AAD fun and games

So aud and I are doing a hour long mini event to thank our fans! We will be playing games, giving away goodies and special prizes. We will be playing the 6 degrees of Cassiel, much like the 6 degrees of kevin bacon, but much cooler as Kevin bacon scares the hell outta me and Aud. Dont ask.

Of Crimson and Collars contest

Secret Project...

ROCKS.

Yes, I know We had one before and its out at pubs right now so keep your fingers crossed. For this one though, we went in a totally new direction and I love this. My project notebook is quickly filling up.

We are almost finished with Satyr book 2, which we have renamed To Collar and Keep is about 29k finished. We need to add a bit in though, and it looks like it will end up around 35-40k, so we are happy with that. With Of Crimson and Collars coming out next month, we are trying hard to finish this and get it to our editor.

So this weekend starts my crazy fall season. Im driving to Ohio for CONTEXT this weekend, If your in the area, come to the event and see me on saturday from 12-2pm on Saturday. I will be signing, and you will have a chance to get Masquerade. Next weekend is Farmington CT with the ever fun Jessica Andersen and Kathryn Smith and friends, If your close to there, come and hangout, we will have baked goods and candy!

After that its, Cheesefest in Monroe NY on the 12th, RenFaire on the 19th and then I finally have a weekend off. October brings the Collingswood Book Fest on the 3rd, and AlbaCon on the 9-11th. Then I have a weekend to get ready for Audra coming on the 20th. But that week is going to be insane with getting everything for AAD together and done before Aud gets here so I can spend time with her in NYC. Once the AAD weekend is over I can breathe easy, but I think I over scheduled myself.

Ooh and we have two shorts we are almost finished with. Not sure when you will see them, or where, but we know you will love them. Short dirty little stories...

Ok well I gotta get ready for tonites concert, the last show in NYC for the NIN goodbye tour. *sniff* But Im going to enjoy it and its going to kick ass.

Writing, writing, writing... I love days like today.

So we have another idea, a secret project we are developing. Audra and I are so excited. I'm hoping this is the one that we say BING, its the one. the idea is so simple, and whats more, no one is doing this yet in romance. I'm ever hopeful.

And we are working on another of the stories for the snakes. Yes, this one will probably end up being a novella, something that will happen between some other stories in the novel series. I'm very excited about it, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the hero.

We are also hard at work at finishing Satyrs two, Harlequin and Arabella's story, what we have named Of Beauty and Bonds. I really like how this one is coming out, and I hope the readers take to this story as well as we have. the Satyrs are a naughty bunch of guys, but Oh so sexy.

And we are writing a short for another character you guys would have just met if you have read A gift of Daybreak. We arent sure where its going to be used, in the next Eververse book or if its getting its own publication, but OMG is he a naughty naughty guy.

So it is back to writing. With Of Crimson and Collars on the horizon, Im getting my ducks in a row to present a very cool contest for the release. Keep your head up, this is one you are going to WANT to win!

Interviews from the Edge: Levet the gargoyle

Hello everyone! I’m here today with my favorite gargoyle eva, Levet. He has been gracious enough to come and talk with us today and give us all more of a peek into what makes him, him.

Embrace the Darkness. This book also features the ever sexy vamp Viper, and Levet’s besty, Shay, a Shallot demon. Since Embrace, Levet has had cameo’s through the rest of the books, and has made reading them more of an enjoyment. I always wait for a Levet scene. I’m ever so excited I get to chat with him now.

SP: Hi Levet! Glad you were up for this. Can you tell everyone a little about yourself?

Bonjour!! I am happy, of course, to speak about myself. I am, after all, a most fascinating subject who has led a life of adventure and extraordinary bravery. To be honest, I am shocked that I have not yet had my beautiful face gracing the cover of Time. Or at least the centerfold of Playgirl. Ah well. In time my true glory will be shared with the world.
So…about me. I am a powerful gargoyle, although I was rudely and quite unjustly forced from the Gargoyle guild since I am vertically challenged. As if being three foot tall is not enough. The world could not bear my splendor if I were any larger. Unfortunately I have been forced to fend for myself, until I met Shay, who has made me a part of her family. I prefer to ignore the unpleasant fact she is mated to a vampire. No one’s perfect, well…except for me.


SP: How old are you?

The cathedral of Notre Dame was still just a dream when I blessed the world with my birth.

SP: How does it feel to the unsung hero of the Guardians of Eternity series?

So typical that the cold-hearted leeches would pig (wait, Shay insists I must use the word hog) hog all the glory. Still, it is something of a tradition for the truly great heroes to work incognito. Just look at Batman. Or of course, Superman. Although I am far more handsome than either.

SP: So how’s the magic coming along? Several times you have used your powers and they have had varied effects, is it getting more stable?

*Clears throat* It might be a teensy weensy bit unpredictable, but of course, it is wondrous to behold. And do not listen to anything Jagr might have to say concerning my magic. The cold-blooded bastard is simply jealous.

SP: How are things at home with Shay and Viper? Any good stories?

Ah, Shay is always a delight. So sweet and charming. Which makes her devotion to Viper all the more puzzling. Of course, he can be fun upon occasion. Just the other day he taught us all how to curse like an ancient Viking when he discovered I had a small mishap with his Bugatti.

SP: So I always wanted to know, when you go all stony during the day, what’s it like? Is it sleep? Or is your mind away and traveling?

I actually have no memory of being a statue. Sweet oblivion.

SP: So here’s some questions just all about you.

SP: Your favorite food?
Ox. Still on the hoof.


SP: Your favorite movie?

SP: Who do you like better, Viper or Cezar?

Ew. That is like asking if I prefer turnips or brussel sprouts. In my opinion, the only good vamp is one who has the good taste to remain in his crypt where he belongs.


SP: What are your hobbies?

Being a Knight in Shining Armor leaves me little time for hobbies, but I do plan to take over Howie Mandel as host of Deal or No Deal when I am done rescuing damsels in distress. That seems like a sweet gig with all those beautiful women.

SP: Summer or Winter?

Summer. Winter is so hard on my skin.

SP: Clear skies or rain?

Rain.


SP: We know you are a terrible flirt, which makes you that much more loveable, but what do you consider romantic?

A cozy room with a warm fire, a bottle of wine (French, of course) and a lovely water sprite who knows how to stroke a gargoyles wings.

SP: So do you make an appearance in Darkness Unleashed? Is it a small part or did Alex relent and give you a bigger part?

My role is far larger, and I am essential in the rescue of Regan, but as usual I must play second fiddle to a vampire. I will say that I at last…ah no, I must say no more. My lips are sealed.

SP: Tell us a secret, something telling about you as a gargoyle.

There are few people who know that gargoyles have been worshiped by many for our ability to bestow fertility. Yet another reason for women to adore me.

SP: Now I think it’s a great affront that Alex doesn’t have you as a character on her website. Why do you think that is?

She is so terribly bourgeoisie, always fussing over those vampires and werewolves. So what if they are all tall, and gorgeous, and oozing sensuality? It takes a woman of exquisite taste to appreciate a gargoyle.


SP: Now I know other gargoyles aren’t as cool as you, so tell us a little about your heritage and what means the most to you, being a gargoyle.

Ah, most people assume because of our frightening exterior that we must be stupid, unfeeling beasts. It couldn’t be further from the truth. Certainly there are some gargoyles who are brutish and incapable of finer feelings, but many are quite artistic and sophisticated. Indeed, it well known among the demon world that it was a gargoyle who actually painted the Sistine chapel.


SP: Anything else you want to add?

It is rumored that Levet will not be making an appearance in the anthology that Ms. Ivy is currently writing. This travesty must not be allowed. For those of you who wish to save the silly woman from utter disaster, you can send an email to alexandraivy @ yahoo dot com and tell her that you demand your favorite gargoyle.

Oscar looked out over the ice plains and smiled at the glittering mass that loomed before him. The triple moons of the Afterverse hung low in the air, the sky was a definite purple. Oscar, schooled in the knowledge of omens of his people took this as a good sign. So, things are going to return to normal eh? Balance again in the royal house? It’s about fucking time. He moved away from the window and grabbed a cloak and made his way down to the throne room, to see what perversity the bastard prince was up to. As a loyal friend of the true prince and a general of the realm, he felt it his duty to keep tabs on what Gabbe was doing to the kingdom at large. And now, it looks like I must be ever more watchful, because the times they are changing back to as they should be.
The hallways were quiet on his way to the throne room, not a single soul floated through. Nor any Conglacio, either of his acquaintance or not was seen. He reached the throne room to find a most peculiar sight. Milo, head of the third house was standing in the center, a beautiful girl at his side. At his entrance the girl turned and looked at him and he stopped cold. She’s Conglacio? Where the hell has she been hiding? I had thought I knew all the ladies of the realm. He bowed at her and smiled, then moved over to where Gabbe was standing. He bowed to Milo, and saluted.
“Milo, it has been a very long time. Who is this fetching creature standing beside you?”
Before Milo could answer Gabbe turned to him, all steely and cold. “This is Uriel. She’s Milo’s daughter. I have asked to take her to the ball at the Cento court, and was waiting on Milo’s answer.”
Oscar smiled and gave Milo a guarded warning look. He assessed the girl beside him, who was no more than Drake's age. If she was in that age group, why don’t I know her, and do the princes know such a perfect specimen of Conglacio beauty is around? He smiled at Gabbe. “Wonderful. I don’t think you will be able to make that ball prince, remember, you were off to the Celo Court to see Kayla?” Oscar made it a point to mention the princess that Gabbe was courting in front of Uriel and Milo so that Milo would get the hint to keep the girl away from the bastard prince. She was too beautiful to be wasted on such a whelp as he.
Milo understood and smiled. “Well highness, it seems that we are at an impasse. No doubt the princess will be sorely put out to not accompany her suitor to the ball but I will have to decline your request. However, as Uriel has her heart set on it, I shall have to squire her myself.”
Oscar stood at attention and smiled. “Milo, I would be honored to squire Uriel around the ball, as I am not attached to anyone, nor have I been since Daphne. It would be my unbridled pleasure.”
“Very well Oscar, you may take Uriel, as you’re a Demon of your word, and I can trust you with the one thing in the verse precious to me. We shall see you at moonrise tomorrow.” With that he left with the shy and stunning creature and Gabbe was seething like a spoiled child that did not get his way. Score one for the first house! Gabbe can’t have them all and Uriel is much too good for him. And yet she reminds me of someone, I can’t place whom.
“What’s wrong with you Gabbe? If Kayla finds out, your claim on both courts is over. Trust me highness, this way you can have your cake and eat it too.”
The bastard prince’s anger turned to confusion. “How do you figure Oscar? You’re taking the girl I wanted to take.”
“Pardon highness, but you’re not too bright are you? If you take Kayla and I take Uriel, you will have your chance to woo both women.” Right and if I let you near Uriel it will be a very hot day on the ice plains. He saw Gabbe realize what that meant and the bastard prince smiled.
“Excellent plan Oscar. It seems you’re always looking out for me.”
Oscar bowed as Gabbe left the throne room. Right, the only thing I’m looking out for is how best to kill you when the time is right. You don’t deserve the throne, and I'd love to do the princes the service of ridding you of your life.

Uriel stood in the throne room and couldn't help feeling as if she was a horse being bartered over. The now crown prince had recently taken an interest in her and had kindly invited her to the ball at the Cento court. Uriel, although she had heard many things about the court, had never visited it herself. She had thanked the prince for such a kind offer and had accepted; as anyone in her position would have done which is what had caused her to be standing in the throne room so late at night.
Her father had been enraged when she'd told him. Cursing and swearing, which was something she’d only ever seen him do once before. He was never like that around her, and for him to be like that to her she knew that she had somehow messed up. She still couldn't really understand it. Gabbe had always been more than nice to her, but her father strongly disagreed with even the thought and she loved her father dearly.
So, now she was standing in the throne room as her father politely tried to turn down the prince’s offer. They had been here for over an hour and Gabbe showed no sign of giving up his claim. She looked around the great room in awe, it was very pretty. Movement from the side door caught her eye and she turned just in time to see a man walk into the room. He was about her height, a little taller, and had the most amazing eyes she had ever seen, the most intense shade of blue. He bowed at her and smiled, then moved over to where Gabbe was standing. He bowed to her father and saluted. She watched the man curiously as he seemed to know her father.
The exchange had been brief and Gabbe had been waylaid, which looked to be much to her father’s delight, and she was going to be squired by the newcomer, Oscar. Her father ushered her out the door before Gabbe could say another word. He almost had them both out of the palace before she spoke up. She stopped and took her arm away from him and turned to face him.
"Father what is going on? Who was he? And why is he now taking me to the ball that you've been cursing about all evening?" She asked him, feeling slightly scared at the thought of spending the evening with the strange man.
"Uriel, that is Oscar. He’s the head of the first house of the Conglacio and he’s a much better match. I trust you, and your virtue, to him."
She raised an eyebrow, "And not the prince?"
Milo sighed. "Not a prince that's courting both you and a Princess. I would hate to have your heart broken because of the," he choked on his words "prince."
She nodded and smiled. "I know father, I trust you to know what's best. If it makes any difference I didn't really want to go with Gabbe. Thank you for having my best interests at heart, many wouldn't. I'm glad you see me as a daughter and not just a tool to barter off for the highest support.”
"Uriel, love, I will always have your best interest at heart. You’re my daughter. If the prince was worth it he'd be yours, you’re stunning."
"Thanks dad. We better get home since it’s an early start in the morning."
"Lord Milo?" She heard Oscar’s voice shout.
Oscar followed them down the reception hallway and caught up, smiling. "I was wondering if I might be able to escort Uriel home? I'm sure you’re busy, and she is your daughter, but..." He let his voice trail off and Milo nodded.
"Excellent idea Oscar. I do have a few things to attend to, so daughter? Would you mind terribly if Oscar here walked you home?"
She swallowed a few times then nodded, stunned. "Sure, well I… I, would be honored." Smooth Uriel, smooth. She ducked down and cursed her conversational skills.
"Uriel, believe me, the honor is all mine." He smiled and gazed into her eyes with his blue green ones.

New Awesome Cover!

The cover gods have answered our prayers!

We got our final cover from TEB for our forthcoming book, the first in the American Satyrs series, Of Crimson and Collars:

Isnt it pretty? Aud and I are very happy with it. its Classy, and sexy and does portray Minerva, as well as the castle we used, Belvedere Castle in Central Park in NYC.

In NC for 'Vacay"

Yep. I'm visiting the EIC of Tease Publishing for a week in NC and having a good time doing it. Tonight is Harry Potter night, and we have midnight showing tix so I'm VERY excited. It looks really good so lets hope it is.

On the other side of it, let me officially announce that Audra is pregnant! Yes! its very cool, and she swears shes carrying a Ninja! Imma be an auntie, and the bestest one I can be. She is still coming in October for the event, so if your coming to AAD, you can participate in her makeshift shower we are throwing her that saturday.

So while Im here, Im doing some Tease work, which is usual, but Im also writing, and Im getting stuff ready for AAD by way of Tease. Yes, Tease is giving away 150 books at AAD this year, and will be sponsoring the masquerade ball with masks and a sweet cake. More on that as I know.

So its hot out, and Joe and I are going to hit the beach town here and do some touristy stuff. I'll post about Potter tomorrow. Shower is calling my name. Oh and I have a release tomorrow for the Pantheon series at ARE. BUY NOW and enjoy the goodness that is a naughty Hypnos.

Audra and I are sending Masquerade in to our editor this week, and have already begun outlining Drake's book, and doing a few scenes. Its going to be the best book yet... I mean when it opens up with a poker game of all our single characters bitching about everyone else falling into relationships, and then Drake meets Enid... You know its going to be interesting.

So I'm back to writing. I have some ideas to get down. YAY. very happy. So now I'm trying to finish up some extra shit by way of Masquerade to get it to Holly by Friday, and I'm working on a Dagmar Avery short for the Pantheon Antho. Looking forward to it.

So Aud and I are doing well, and busy. But you as a reader and fan, should come and hangout with us at our FORUM. Dirty Thirty

My mother said that to me on Sunday. Welcome to the dirty thirties. What that mean, I have no clue.

But I am 30 now, and they keep telling me life begins at 30. I'm not sure about that, but I am hopeful that good changes will come now that I'm past the hump of my 20's. So far its been good. I'm happy we have been productive with the writing, and I feel like things could be looking up. We reopened the Shadow heights forum, and its been going well. Ooh and we are almost finished with Masquerade. That NEEDS to get out to readers, its the best book we have written to date in the Eververse series.

I have been excited about writing the past two weeks. Its not feeling like a chore, and I'm so damn hopeful for all the goodness coming this year, especially Audra visiting. But first, summer. Summer is going to rock this year. Joe and I will be visiting our friend in NC in July for a week, and we have a few day trips coming up as well. I cant wait.

Tomorrow... Dun dun dun dun!

Well. One more day. and I'm 30. Yeah. Not excited. But I did get my hair cut yesterday, short, and it looks cute. Its much better for the summer. Just have to keep up with it. Or chemically straighten it. Either way, I will be cute throughout July.

We got our edits for Daybreak, and need to add some sex, Surprise surprise. See Audra and I get bored of writing sex for some books, so this is going to be like pulling teeth, but we will get it done and back to our super awesome editor in about a week and a half. I cant wait to see the cover for the book.

OOH and Surrender in Moonlight will be out June 22nd. Mark your calendar. Its hot.

I'm also excited because we will be finishing Masquerade in the next two weeks and sending it to Holly for edits. Finally, you guys will know and love the brothers of the first house of Conglacio, Oscar and Drake. And YES, you WILL love Drake. And yes, we will have it for AAD this year. Cant wait for that.

So what will we be working on this summer? Book two of our most recent series, Moongardens, and A Bitter Kiss of Chaos. Also, we will be working on some shorts for Janey and Marsh, Arcady and Snow and Barbas and Illithen. So be on the lookout.

yes, I'm happy to say that our submission for the new series we are developing is off to its requested submission. I'm nervous, and scared and hell freaked out. The CP we have (who is the COOLEST EVA!) loved the book the second time through after we added to it, and I feel good about that. I just hope this submission is well liked by the person that requested it. Here is hoping.

So my birthday is 5 days away. T minus 5 days till I'm rocking 30. And guess what I did today? I bought myself Fea Bea Ugly Doll. Yep. Happy birthday to me. I'm a happy girl. WOO.

Ooh and edits for Surrender in Moonlight are done, and the book will be available June 22nd. I hope you will consider picking it up. Its a naughty little story (much more erotic then the first one) and we love Reece. LOL.

So I guess its bed time. I have a weak stomach and don't know if I will be able to sleep. Crap. I should have done this in Feb when i wasnt sleeping much. On the upswing, I can finish the covers I have on my plate tomorrow. Nite.

T-minus 10 days and counting

On May 24th, I will be 30. Am I freaked? Nope. 30 is just a number, and I don't look like I'm going to be 30 either so I think that helps. This year is a big year, and I don't think I will be doing any big celebrating. Its a very odd weekend, being Memorial day and all. So I'm not expecting much. Joe is getting me a wonderful spa day which I need, and I have decided on a Warm Stone treatment and Full body massage. I seriously need it, my body is a mess of knots and toxins.

So this year everyone keeps asking me what I want for my birthday. Well Imma leave a list here for everyone who asked to refer to:

Audra and I will finish this book tomorrow. and Then Ill be editing and sending it out as we are supposed to. I'm excited, and nervous. But I feel good about the book. Really good.

it is almost time.

Yes, this books is one scene away from being put to bed. After the awesome talk we had with our CP, she gave us some insight and we decided to add two more scenes to the book to really round it out and answer some hanging questions. I'm hoping this will make the book better in the long run, but we will just have to wait to see what everyone things.

So today I'm writing the cover letter, blurb and hoping for the best. I suck canal water at writing a cover letter, and I always get it wrong. Too many templates to what you need, and I'm not a natural marketer (I know right? Me?). I just cant sum shit up, and If I can then I personally feel the writer (or myself) didn't intrigue me enough for my mind to play out all possibilities. So it looks like Im going to need help with this, as usual. And before you say, 'well, you got aud' Aud cant write a business letter any better then we are. we are creative, and I find cover letters too limiting. Still, it must be done, so Im going to start plugging away at it shortly, once I get my ducks in a row.

OOh and thanks to the awesome chicks from last night that helped me come up with a name for the book and the series. Kimmy, Amiee, Judy and Kay, LOVE you guys. It helped a lot and Im running it all by Audra today.

So its back to work for me. I have lots to do and less time to do it in. Why? because today is STAR TREK DAY!!!!

Sometimes I miss her.

Who am I kidding? I miss Audra all the time. It sucks when your sister is your best friend and lives so fa away you cant celebrate for real with her. What are we celebrating? Well its the good fortune we have had recently in the requests of our work from a few editors and agents. I mean, nothing is set in stone, but we have been doing well recently for requests and because of that, its cause of celebration. We are a lot further then we were a year ago, and I'm thankful for that.

So it was good to Skype with Aud for the past couple hours. We talked about our books, series and what we are doing for the future, and where we are going with everything. Shes got the old spark back, and I think its because we aren't as stagnant as we were before this. It felt good to reconnect, and Im so damn hopeful about where we are going from here.

October cannot come soon enough.One week is going to be a tease and a half but we will have to deal with it. It really sucks when your best friend is so far from you... But I love what we do, and I love that its my sister I do it with. I couldnt be this close to anyone else, and without her We couldnt do what we do.

Im off to bed, but Im feeling a lot better about the state of our career. My sister keeps me hopeful.

Today is an achey day. So what am I doing? I'm reading over the MS we are getting ready for submission. So far, its damn good, we did a little bit of revisions, and have added about 3k to the final count, and Im nowhere near the middle of the book. We have three scenes we need to add in, two bad guy scenes and one good guy scene and now after reading this, it is going to be a Paranormal ERotic Romance. Im not sure how the others in the series are going to fair, but it will probably stay in the same vein. Its different for us, because the other MS we are shopping only has two sex scenes in it, and is very heavy on the lore and story. Not that this one isnt, but the characters are demanding more skin time. Its interesting to me how each series we rock is SO difference. One is heavy on the sex, one isnt. I guess it really is just the characters.

So Saturday I'll be at the CT Fiction Fest in Meriden CT. Im doing a promotional workshop, and signing in the evening. Should be fun. I am crazy for doing this right after RT but I do love the activity. So if your near Meriden CT Saturday, come and see me at the Sheraton 4 Points hotel from 430-6.

Back from hell.

Ok RT rocked this year. The downside is that me, Robin Slick and Ash Arceneaux all got sick and were convinced we got swine flu. We were all hallucinating last night, and it wasn't much fun at all. So it was a little bittersweet. But, the signing, I SOLD OUT. Now that was bittersweet too. Why? Bcause I only had 15 books, and then after I sold out, 20 more people came up to me to get books.
Needless to say Im pissed off. BN gave us this BS story that Small Press Authors only got 5 each, which was bullshit because Authors like Ash and Bianca D'Arc got between 8-20 of copies and they are small press too. I dont know who decided it, but Im going to talk to Jo Carol about this because it was a CROCK OF SHIT. I see all these NY authors with TOWERS of books they dont hope to sell (Because they are readily available through distrobution channels) and yet those of us that are small press got shafted. We really do pay and arm and a leg to go, and to ONLY have up to 15 books to sell (hand sell really because your meeting these people at these events) isnt fair. We spend so much, and it doesnt offset the cost at all, let alone make it feel worth it that we were there and we sold books. Missing 20 sales fucks with my business and my career, becuase its events like this that help make you known, but how the hell is it really supposed to help when you got no product to push?

Ok so that was my rant. I'll be doing more ranting about this once I get my thoughts together, but I thank EVERYONE who bought me, and had intention to buy the books. This was an amazing event because of YOU taking the time to actually care about us and the books. I feel really hopeful for our books and our future books because you guys were so damn encouraging and awesome. I look forward to seeing some of you at AAD and keeping in touch through forever. You all rock and I love you, and Audra is going to love you too.

Airports, ugh.

Its 10 to 8 in the morning and I'm already sitting here at JFK waiting to board my 945 flight to RT. Yes. I hate being here alone, and cant deal with flying so this should be interesting. Joe and I got to JFK in about 1 hour and 45 mins, and we were only in traffic for about 10 mins, and it only took us 5 mins to cross the GWB. so it wasn't so bad.

A.D.Roland is picking my ass up at the airport today, and we found out that we are able to check into our hotel (not the RT hotel) at 1ish so Luci, bless her, will have done that already. That means I can thankfully change clothes and put some makeup on. Praise the gods. So its not too bad. Then we have to hoof it to the RT hotel, and then get out registration on. Then its work work work till the EC party when we can all finally relax. I shouldn't fly in the day i need to be there, but seriously, it just came down to what was cheaper. So I will deal.

Going to miss the Jojo? Oh you bet. and Audra, she really should be here for this, and its sad she isnt. But we did finish up the short story for our Royalty book, and now all we have to do is finish the novella and we can send that to the editor. Excited? Totally. It will be nice to have something new out again.

So im going to surf a bit, and then read over our new novel we are working on, maybe add a little. Have a good one.

Leaving on a jet plane

Tomorrow morning. So dont expect much of a update on here till Sunday. Ill be lucky if I get on to check email. Nervous? Kinda, Im sad that Audra isnt coming this year, but AAD is right around the corner and she will be here for that. That makes me excited, to hangout with sissy butt for an entire week.

New contract and new work!

Hey everyone!

So last night we got word that TEB offered the contract for the third of the Snake series, A Gift of Daybreak. So excited. Now we are all set up for the series and the edits should be rolling in shortly. I just hope they wont come till after RT, but seeing as my editor will be at RT this year I think its a safe bet. So I don't really have to worry. WOo.

And we did receive the cover for Surrender in Moonlight. Its not what we would have normally chosen, but its ok. I'll post it soon enough. I have high hopes for the Daybreak cover.

And Im brimming with ideas Audra cant deny. We have been working on several shorts over email for the week so far, a few Eververse shorts we arent sure what we are going to do with, but with Masquerade almost finished, we need to get back into the mindset of our sexy demons. Im really looking forward to finishing the book and getting to Drake's book which i really think is going to be our opus. So I think the story we are focusing on today, Oona and Moni, will be the first to be released once its done, the rest are set for later on in the series. Poo I know, but We gotta try and keep time frames right.

So today is writing, and then I need to hit Staples to get a poster laminated and mounted to carry with me to RT, and I need to hit Michaels for last minute stuff (Throw Target in there for good measure). Its going to be a real relaxed weekend, which I need, because come Tuesday Im going to running around like a lunatic finishing up everything and getting my hair done. Wed. Is coming far too quickly. Thank god I'm pretty much completely packed. RT is coming.. its coming...

Needed the night out.

Wow Easter is finally here. WOO.

The concert last night was awesome, I really needed the night out. The band was SO freaking awesome, and I was in a great spot to see as well. Such a great show. But I tell you, I have realized that since I have closed myself off from the things I used to enjoy doing, I have been getting a lot of great ideas when I do go out. Before it was all over stimulation. Now, things kinda just show up and I'm like "Damn! that's a damn fine idea!" So I talked to Audra about the ideas and shes liking them.. Maybe I should get out more often.

The signing? Awesome as well. Got to hangout with Gina, and met a new fan Karina. So rad both of them, and Gina taught me how to wrap the sari. WOO. I gotta do some sewing this week though.

Now, we need to get last minute work done and order the last minute shit for RT. WOO. its getting wild now.

Holiday weekend=work weekend!

Yes! Holiday weekend for me, and its busy. Good Friday tomorrow, dinner with the fam, Saturday book signing at Unique Books in Bayonne, then the night in NYC at Webster Hall for THE FAINT show (SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!) and then Sunday Easter dinner with Joe's fam. Yes LOTS to do. But its going to be awesome.

Saturday is going to be great. Not only do I get to see my favorite band EVA, but i get to hangout at my signing with a fan that is coming to chill with me. So Gina, I cant wait to meet you! LOL (And I'll bring Drake along as well, LOL)

So this is going to be a fun weekend, if not busy. RT is coming so quickly and I'm finally getting excited about it. Wild week with Kayleigh Jamison and A.D.Roland, Bianca D'Arc, Cat Johnson and Jacquelyn Frank. WOO.

Finished the damn book.

Yes. Well As of 5pm today I CAN say that. We are so close, and this morning I added almost 700 words in bulk to the edits. I'm a happy girl. So now i have to go through after the last bit is done, do a final edit, change words to UK spellings, and then send it in to our amazing editor. I'm excited, to have this done. RT is less then two weeks away, and I'm just glad this will be off our shoulders.

And next monday Beyond the Vision of Dreams is rereleased! SOOOOO excited. I know Ill be getting our edits for Surrender in Moonight soon as well, and I cant wait to get that cover! Cartoons!

Saturday morning relaxation is spent for me in one and only way: watching cartoons! That's right, I watch Pokemon, Ben 10 alien force, Batman, and a slew of others. Why? because it keeps me calm and centered. My uncle, who has a high stress job with the US govt. has sworn by this for years. Just tune everything out, and watch some cartoons, and forget about the world for a while. Its actually very therapeutic.

So that is my saturday morning, just throw in a cup of tea. Yummy.

Why do I mention this? Because my stress level is through the roof because we haven't finished this book yet. Yesterday Aud had an emergency, and we didn't get more then 50 words done between us. We have two scenes left to do, maybe three depending on what audra wants to do, and I dont think its going to happen by the deadline. So im watching my cartoons and relaxing because Im already getting chest pains. Yes, my stress manifests into pain. not too fun.

So I hoping my prediction about finishing this is false, and that we do infact finish this. Its been a long time coming and Im eager to finish it and get back to the two novels we need to finish for release later this year.

busy busy busy

Yes, its been a busy week so far. We are writing, we are getting the book finished for deadline on Friday and I'm getting ready for the signing on the 11th (and the concert) and putting finishing touches on my RT prep. Its been crazy, but I think after RT is done, then things will get back to somewhat Normal.

The book on deadline is almost ready. I have been editing and adding as I wait for Audra to get her bum online, which is good as there were a few holes, but it seems to make sense now. I cant wait for this to be done, so we can focus on Masquerade and then Moongardens. Yay for progress.

And soon Beyond the Vision of Dreams will be out. SO excited. I'll be posting our contest for the book on release day, where you will have 2 chances a piece to win a gift pack including a very cool ball cap, and some other goodies. So stay tuned.

So I'm back to writing, I have some more to get through before Audra gets online, so much to still do to make this one shine, and I think its because the characters weren't as real to us as the others. So it will be up to you (and our Editor) to decide if we nailed it. I'm hoping we did, its been a tough couple of months with this one.

Countdowns!

RT is just around the corner. So is our signing at Unique Books in Bayonne. And the concert I'm going to as well. so much to do. and OMG I have to send SO MUCH PROMO in the mail. This isn't going to end well.

So this is our last week to finish this book and get it to our amazing editor. Its almost done, and I'm hopeful it will be finished by Friday and I wont be stressing about it anymore. So I'm committed to getting at least 2k finished myself today. I can only hope Audra will get her ass online and write. But she knows we are on deadline so...

Ooh and in 2 weeks BEYOND THE VISION OF DREAMS finally comes back out! SO excited. I got our author copies today. Needless to say we are really excited, and I cant wait to see what readers say about the book. ooh and Im going to run a contest too starting on the 13th so be on the look out!

NECRWA: Recap on weekend

First, lovely time. Met some awesome ladies (Corrina and Teresa, LOVE YOU!) and saw some of my buddies from signings, and got to catch up with people. The workshop went well, and the others i went to, I learned a lot. So it was a good time. Ooh and the bar had Blue Moon, so that was a plus.

The book signing, I got to sit next to some lovely ladies, and it was fun (Leprecock chocolate anyone?) and the girls from the Black Cats Book club came to see me, I love them. I don't however, love Carla. She needs to quit being a snot. *smile*

And now I have thrown down the gauntlet with Ms. Andersen. She had the most FABOO blue velvet jacket on Saturday, and I was JEALOUS! so now I have to get something that's going to trump that beauty. I talk a big game, but the truth is that jacket was amazing.

The big goodie of the weekend was i did my first actual pitch, and didnt botch it too much. the editor asked for a partial, and Im taking it as a major win, even if she doesnt take it, atleast i faced the fear to do it up. so im proud of me.

So now its getting the submission ready, and pairing down the synopsis. then i have to write.
Oh on the good side, aud and i have about 18k on the book we have on deadline. we are doing anther 12 this week. we have a deadline, and i think we are going to make it. for once.

We will be doing a signing, reading and Q and A panel, as well as plying you with food and wine. Yep, its our first wine and sign signing and I cant wait. The signing is from 5-9 and we are going to be WILD!

I have been neglecting blogging this week because I'm on my last legs of promotional detail. Next weekend I have a workshop at NECRWA and The Spotty Dog) So its a busy weekend. The good news is that i have all my promo done for TEB and for PHAZE. Two less things to do.

Audra found her way back online, and we banged out 3k last night between talking about another book. It was a good thing, and we got some ideas for the third Satyr story, but the second is only partially written so that will have to wait. we do love getting ahead of the game.

So im back to writing. I need to hit another 2k today on my own for one of the other books we have in the works. Wish me luck, and dont forget to come tomorrow!

What e books mean to audra and I

Since its E book week, and we are part of the Go Green Read E ambassadors this year, I figured my inaugural post about e books would be about what they mean to us. So onward.

E books meant opportunity for us. Opportunity for our writing, and to reach a world wide audience. With e books we were able to break into writing, able to get our work out there, however rocky the road actually was.

When we started, E book was really the only avenue available to us, and trust me, unlike most, it was the worst beginnings. we made a lot of mistakes, signed with some of the wrong companies, but on the whole, E books are what got us our first real fans. And it wasn't till after we got the first books in print that we met them in person, but needless to say we were always grateful.

E books allow for readers to get a taste of work that NY isnt up to publishing yet, and I have realized that without e book we would all be stuck with the same five authors in the romance genre, because its too hard to take a chance on something new when your doing print runs. Also, with the e books, its instant. People talk to you in a chat they wanna read you, they do in minutes. So much easier.

the Authors After Dark Paranormal Weekend event is up and ready to rock! We just put the website up today, and the registration and the pay pal option as well. I cant wait for October now, Audra and I are going to both be there, and you, the reader, should come as well. its CHEAP, a fraction of what you pay for RT and it will have some of your favorite authors attending. this is an event that's intimate, and sure to become a convention staple in the next few years.

We have some fantastic goodies, events and classes for everyone and guess what? we feed you! that's right, 4 full meals and a cocktail hour and ice cream sundae party. Both the ice cream party and the masque we are having on saturday night will be flanked by a DJ, and lots of good food.

getting ready for RT and the other events ...

My relaxing March is pretty much over before it began. This month I have three events, four actually, and I need to get ready for them all, not to mention April, and then in May more signings. So. Im doing what any smart author does: Thinking about promo.

See, With NECRWA coming up, I need to bring to stuff for my workshop, which consists of props, cd's of templates, worksheets and lists of websites. That's not too bad. But I have to get it together. But what do I bring this time for my promo for our books? I know business cards, I dont leave home without them in my business card case (Which is uber steampunk) and my I DO IT DEMONSTYLE stickers (Which I have to order more of today). But Should I bring the Book cards for GIFTS? and bookmarks for London For the Holidays? I think thats a safe bet. Maybe some Eververse postcards too. We will see. Normally I would bring a lot but with RT on the horizon, I gotta conserve.

RT will have I Do It Demonstyle pins and stickers, as well as some flyers, bookmarks, brochures and other special stuff like metal hook bookmarks, snowflake earrings, bath salts, and snowflake medallions. What else should I do? Anyone? Anyone going to RT that wants something special from the books we write?

May is the CT Fiction Fest, and Ill be running my workshop there as well, just a little modified. So the usual comes there, and probably whatever promo I have left over from RT will as well, and I think Im going to do bath salts again for this event, because lets face it, everyone loves to relax.

The world went white. AGAIN

So here in upstate NY we have about 5 inches, and its still falling. So LAME. Im over the snow now, and SO want spring to come. This is getting ridiculous. Still, I plan on spending the day writing and watching some old and fun musicals. Which ones?

Grease 2, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bye Bye Birdie... it should be an interesting day. Im hoping to get about 5k written on a Dagmar Avery story, and maybe another 2k on the snake book Audra and I are on deadline for. Lets hope we get it going right. I at least have an outline.

And ooh Im so excited because WATCHMEN comes out this weekend. I hear there's a lot of full frontal male nudity... so I cant wait. How do I know, Cara North, the bitch, saw it as a sneak preview this past weekend with her hunny on the Base. Yes. SO JEALOUS. But Im looking forward to seeing it friday.

Ooh and Joe got me Tix to see THE FAINT in april. So anyone going to our signing in Bayonne on April 11th, Ill be running into the city after to Webster Hall to see The Faint and get my dance on. SO excited!

Ooh and youll notice to your left that we put up a poll. Yep. we wanna know who your favorite characters are, so that we can decide on what the new shorts will be for this coming year... If you wanna read about them, we wanna write about them. So get your votes in ASAP!

Moo had a complication with his head (as some of you know,) and its back to healing nicely, which is awesome for him and me. Im hoping to get back to normal for all the stuff i need to get going, and hopefully work will get back to normal. I have stuff piling up.

Ooh and Audra has started a new business venture. She is going to be breeding morphs, and by that I mean snakes. I'm excited for her, It is something shes always wanted to do so it should be good for her. And hopefully getting us to be writing more.

Moo update.

Well doctor says hes fine, and that the gash is healing really well. He was SOOOO good at the vet today and is now hunkering down for his afternoon nap. He looks pleased with himself.

So I'm hopefully going to write today, even if its just for Dagmar. I think I'm going to sit with the Moo and read a bit, then write a little. Maybe. we will have to see. I have to make packages up and still design some promo for RT. So today might be busier then I expected.

a happy accident.

So we found out today that Beyond the Vision of Dreams will be pushed up to April 13th, a whole week early! So I'm soooo excited about that. Now I have to do some promo for the book now, I think I'm going to do book cards and postcards I think.

So tomorrow I take Moo to get his sutures out. Im happy to report hes pretty much back to normal, and the wound looks very good. Im hoping his recovery will continue to be speedy. I need my Moo back to normal.

Still working on some more jewelry for RT, but Im happy to say the Sugar Skull Mafia pins are now all done and ready for fun. Im still waiting on new pieces so I can finish off some ideas. I hate when supplies dont show up when they are supposed to.

Ok back to work for me. Just thought I would pop in and give you guys the update.

New Design

Yes, I thought we needed a sprucing up. Audra and I have been working on this design for about 2 months, and yes the curtains match the carpet, or rather, the blog matches the website.

So the Snake and the Octopus... that's me and Audra. Or rather Audra is the snake, im the octy. HEH. I think it was about time we changed the site around, we needed something more streamline and easy and clean looking. Im really happy with it, especially because we have all these events coming up and the site looks 100% more professional.

so what do you think? Pretty? too dark? not sexy enough?

Update on Moo.

Thanks to everyone who have sent good wishes and positive thoughts our way concerning Moo. hes home, two days into his recovery and you wouldn't even know he was sick, well aside from the large sewn gash in his head, and he looks like friar tuck with half his head saved. But hes eating, taking his meds like a good boy and finally starting to sleep through the night. I might be able to get back to my bed this coming week.

Well thats the plan. Moo is still running from us when we have to spray the Bactine on him, It was that or leave him at the vet because he wont let us put the neosporin on him, so its been interesting. Thank you to everyone who has called me and helped out with everything, especially his bills. They were steep, but I feel good now that we can pay it, and that I have such amazing friends that would even think of helping us out for this.

So Im off to cuddle with him while he relaxes, then give him his meds. Have a good weekend everyone. Ooh and Ill have a new context week. Stay tuned.

Why? because today is Audra's 25th birthday. Rejoice!

Im hoping shes having a good day in the land of scots, though I know I will speak to her later on today. So I hope you will join me in wishing her health, wealth and happiness this year, and may her 25th be even more special then she could ever hope for.

Covers, voting, and surgery

Yes... Its been a rough couple of days since my last post. I'm sitting here watching Dollhouse, which is interesting to say the least and I'm tired as hell. My poor moo is very ill, needs an operation, and is miserable. Hes been sleeping a lot, which might not be good, but at least hes not scratching his head and turning my condo into grind house with blood everywhere. Its been a crappy day and last night was horrible. Hes got his surgery on Thursday but I'm going to call tomorrow and get it earlier. My poor Moo.

So You guys can guess why Im just not very excited today, and if you cant sense my lethargy, then I am doing a good job of hiding it. Im so tired but I have to stay awake to watch BSG. But I figured I would mention a few things. First, The Fantasms are up and around once again... and we are up for THREE this year! What do readers want?

Ok so I know we have a lot of readers, and we are thankful for each and every one of you. Because of you, we have been able publish several series and stories and tell our tales to the world. But I want to know what is it that draws you to a book, and when is a subject done to death for you?

The reason why I ask is that at ComiCon in NYC this past weekend, I went to a few panels, and the publishers that were there were showing off their coming soon work, and I gotta tell you, the amount of books that were the same kept me ill.

When I see the same book being spun out over and over I feel like the editors are flooding the market and just giving you more of them same. Case in point. I saw a publisher that put out atleast 4 books involving a PI who solves supernatural crimes. The same pub is putting out atleast 4 urban fantays's with a female kickass heroine written in 1st person. Same publisher is jumping on the vampire YA band wagon, as well as putting out books about Seelie/Unseelie fey and more werewolves. So where is the variety? Do readers wanna just have the choice of three or 4 subjects? Do they want the same old same old every month's release? What is it that they wanna see in books, and why isnt NY listening?

See, I feel like there no room in NY for the unique books that I think readers would embrace. Oh sure theres flukes, like the Jessica Andersen series about the 2012 armageddon, and they have been doing great from what I hear, but aside from Ms. Andersen and a few others that the pubs have taken the chances on, the market remains largely the same book different author. So whaty say you? Are you cowed by the "variety" NY is giving you, or do you Not wanna try anything new, and stay with the old stand bys? How is this industry going to progress to another level, and survive if they just keep giving us the same thing to read? What say you?

Im so damn tired I could probably sleep a week. But thats not going to happen. The signing went well, we had a great time and meat some fantastic new readers and friends. Im hoping that everyone had a good time. But the drive back was hellish and my body is tired from me tottering about on 4 inch heels. So not my thing.

Tomorrow is ComiCon, and Im excited as hell. But my ass has to get up at 630 AM to make sure im all set to go at 815. YEAH. So Im going to bed, cuz I need it. Ill have pictures form Comicon I think, I forgot my camera in all the hubbub this morning. I know some of the other girls did get piccys so they will be soon.

So Im done. Stick a fork in me, just dont wake my ass up till 630.

Lots and Lots

Of stuff to do this week before the big hunkin signing and the Comic Con! And you know what? Im not even caring. Im futzing about doing stuff that could wait, and not doing what I need to be. No this isnt procrastination, this is me interested in what i WANT to do not what NEEDS doing. Le Sigh.

So I made some new jewelry, two neclaces, one pendant charm and a pretty sweet steampunk ring. Im going to take pictures of them in a little while and then post them on the ETSY shop. Im just a bit behind.

Also, last month we only did a little over 34k, and Im aiming for 50 this month. So, Im pushing to write atleast 500 words a day this month, but with the month so short, Im hoping it ends up as such. Audra and I are hip deep in three books, and we need to get them finished ASAP.

And Saturday is the signing! Finally! I have had this set up for months now and the freaking awesome lineup of authors attending this has really made me more excited for the event. I need to make cupcakes, and brownies, and get some sparkling cider and juice, but I really cant wait regardless of all the crap i have to do.

OOh and today started my new excersize regime. Yes, Im looking to loose 10 lbs for RT. I think I can do it.

So its back to writing, and taking pictures. Im hoping audra and I can hit 1k today.
