I swear im the worst blogger ever.

Well I know I have some interesting things to say but honestly i don't have the energy to get all wild about the indignities and injustices that have been coming to light recently. I will one of these days, but not today. I just dont have the time or the inclination.

Why? Because I start our fall signing tour this weekend. Farmington CT is the first stop, then every weekend till the middle of October i have something. Im excited to be getting back out there and seeing readers and meeting new ones, I have hope this will be the best tour we have so far.

So its all packing and making sure i have everything I need. I still need to finish cutting out promo to bring but luckly i have tonite to do that. It never ends, the planning and the packing. Im just hoping that the amount of stuff im doing does pay off.

And this time through, I have two cons! ConTEXT in Ohio in September, and AlbaCON in Albany in October where Ill be on a bunch of panels! Wooo I cant wait! FINALLY! and this is going to do well for my Con resume, so that I can get on other panels as I go. I really cant wait for that. oh and Bianca and I are throwing a party there as well. HEH.

So wish me luck for this tour, I plan on having a freaking rad time.

I should blog more often

But really I'm a hellishly boring person. Nothing noteworthy has been going on with us. Still toiling away at writing, and I'm still designing and getting promo stuff cut out and ordered. I have a lot of signings coming up so i need to swag.

I do have one thing I'm super excited to talk bout, but I cant yet. and no, its not a contract or an agent. But its still wicked awesome and once I can talk about it, I know you are all going to be into it. Soon, I promise.

I do have some cool ideas that are panning out by way of promotional items. Im looking forward to getting it out there to see what the fans and the readers think.

Signings, traveling and back to work

NC was freaking awesome. I had a great time, so did joe and I sold 10 books at the signing. All in all thats a damn good day. Our vacation was fun as well, though I don't like driving all day to get home. I need to move south. Too many of my good freinds live south.

Ooh and it was so fantastic to see the Jens at the signing as well. I'm SOOO glad they came cuz they both rocked! I'm looking forward to seeing them both again.

So Audra is home finally. so we are going to start writing again this week. I figure we can get the books finished and knock a lot out of our WIP list. Im off to start writing right now as a matter of fact. Be sure to check out my post at AAD this month, Im giving away some free print books and other good stuff..

No Audra... and apparently no words...

Audra is still on her honeymoon! She will be for another week, and I have been sitting here tearing my hair out. I feel stagnant, and unmotivated, because shes not here. My stress? Through the roof because we have a LOT to get finished. So I'm trying to write little by little on my own but its a losing battle.
So what did I do? I created a new pen name for myself, to write shorts and novella's on my own. Seemed like a good idea at the time, and I did start writing. My problem? I'm stuck again. Why? because my brain is set to "pair writing" and I don't think I can write something good without her. Its insecurity I know, but the idea has come to me easily, but I cant write it. Its sitting here, scenes and chapters waking up in my head, but I keep thinking "Damn Aud is going to LOVE this idea!" and she has no idea about it and wont because its my work alone.
I don't think I can get my head around working alone really, because I haven't really done it in ages. So I toil on, push some words out. But I'm nowhere near as prolific as I should be and am when I'm writing with Audra.
So I have decided to just let it sit for half the day today, watch the last episode of Dr. Who for season 4 and cry it out, like i did for the 12th episode. *sigh* Watch the back episodes of Battlestar I missed while in Scotland, and maybe order some promo. Maybe that will get my brain working, and if not it might turn it to mush. Either way, I'm eager to have Audra home to get some work done.

2 days til the wedding....

and we are almost ready to go. Dressed are all done, the shoes, and the favors. I still have to do the table signs, the jewelry, and we have to decorate the cheese "cake". Audra and Neil are both taking pills for the Malaria they could possibly get in the DR for their honey moon, and Aud is cooking pasta with meat sauce for dinner. Its tight. its wild, but its going to be fantastic on Saturday.

Weather looks good for the afternoon to take pictures, and they are getting married outside. Its going to be beautiful, and Aud is more then ready for it all.

So two days ago we went to Edinburgh, and Im going to share a picture or two...

Pretty right? Edinburgh is fantastic. Once i get the videos all sorted out Ill be posting those but i have to compress them, and its a pain to do when Im not at my home workstation.

Scotland is a beautiful beautiful place. And where my sister lives is a wonderful little town. So Im going to share some stuff with you guys...

Isnt it lovely? I have more but its taking ages to upload them. These two are my favorite. Today we are off to get our dress fittings, and then i think a party in Kilburn... Which my sister isnt too keen on. No matter... LOL.

Yep! today is the day! I'm getting ready as I type, making sure everything is packed, everything is printed, and all my documentation is ready to go. I still have to close my compy down to bring it with me, and pack my compy bag with stuff Ill need for the plane ride, but its less to do then I thought. Last night I repacked, took out stuff I knew I wouldn't be wearing, and while it was scant, it did lighten the load.

My carry on is still pretty heavy but thats due to the damn glass votive's I have to bring for the wedding. And we just found out that the Mongreen, the hotel we were having the reception at, has Asbestos *they have been doing construction to fix the wing that exploded with the boiler* and now the wedding party cant stay there, nor can anyone else. they have to close the damn place. Aud is a mess, or gutted as she said... and Now I have to hold that stress for her. Not good. Ugh it never ends.

Ready. Totally.

Well Im finally packed, my boarding pass is printed, my passport is ready and Im less then 24 hours from seeing my sister. WOO. needless to say its going to be a good time. Still, Im nervous about flying alone, though as far as Continental.com says, I have a full row to myself for the flight. So thats cool, I can stretch out.

I have a book, Maggie Shayne's Lovers Bite, and I'm bringing the notebook to get down all the craziness when i need to write stuff down. My new video camera has a voice recorder as well, so that should be fun.

Still, I'm sad I'm leaving home for the month. I'm leaving Joe behind, hes got a small tour with his band he couldn't pass up, and I support that. Not going to see him for 21 days is going to suck major. We have been together for a little over 5 years and we haven't ever been apart this long.
And I'm going to be away from mum and the moo. Don't get me wrong Momma Angela, my sisters mum, will be in Scotland for me to see, but its still not the same as my mum.

And the moo is not happy. He sees the luggage and has been growling at me for no good damn reason. Since I'm always home with him, I know hes going to miss me, and hes going to be hella pissed when i get home.

On the bright side, I get to see Zorro, Pimms, Petey, Katie, Ninja... Oh thats all Audra's pets. I'll put video up for them, so you can see too.

So... This going to be quite an adventure, and I am looking forward to it, if a little sad I'm going to be be starting it alone.

OOH and today is Johnny Depp's birthday. Happy birthday Hottie.

New Cover!

So we just got word the London for the Holidays is going to be put out this fall simultaneously in e book and in print. So of course, I had to do a new cover for it. I mean I'm a firm believer that what will sell a book in e book visually wont always sell the print, and we loved the original cover for London, but this one is just SO much better for a print book we had to use it. Luckily Phaze liked the new one more. Here it is:
Isnt it pretty? Im very happy with how it turned out, and I also have the back cover finished, though I won't be showing it out any time soon, Im waiting on the spine to do it all in one shot. Anywho, just thought I would show it off. Im off to finish packing and getting the house in order.

signings, stupidity and birthdays

Last night was the last night of the signing tour for the spring. What fun. We had a great time, sold a bunch of books, met some new people, and hopefully made some new fans. I'm looking forward to the next leg of signings, starting in July when I get back. So much fun.

OOh and today is My best friend Brooke's Birthday. 29. WOO! And today is also Colin Farrell's birthday, WOO for Colin. I'm celebrating just for him.... HEH.


Last night though, at the mall we were at, the movie theater that was there had a fire alarm pulled in the middle of the Sex and the City showings. women went APESHIT. I mean it was like a demonstration out there. So the signing could have gone much better, especially if they had us in the front of the store, and we could have capitalized on that. *sigh* July should be better. I'm really looking forward to it.

I finally made a book video.

Well I did it. I finally made a video. It wasn't as hard as I thought, though it will be a good long while before I get my panties in a bunch enough to attempt one for another book. It just took forever. I hope you guys like it, I'm very proud of it!

Fantastic Birthday, If bittersweet.

Today was a wonderful birthday for me. I had a signing with the lovely and darling Cat Johnson and C.H. Admirand, in Farmington CT. OMG what fun! the store was lovely, the staff was ever efficient, and we had a solid and fantastic audience.

We all sold books, so I was happy about that, and C.H. Gave me a wonderful bottle of champers, *which I'm drinking right now!* and my dirrty froggy brought me chocolate. good love it!

But I get home to news that Audra is sick once again, and that shes on some heavy meds including anti-epilepsy pills. Needless to say I'm scared. Shes so close to getting married, and I know its her stress from said wedding. I cant wait to get there to help her out and help her get well again. I'll call her tomorrow to check up on her.

So other then my champers, Tilly got me the COOLEST gifty, a POE uglydoll keychain! Woo! hes coming with me to Scotland! And Selena was totally awesome and got me two fantastic journals, one thats going to be come Our Afterverse Throne Book or The Fey book of Names. We havent decided yet, but I'm anxious to get started on that project.

Anyways thanks to everyone that showed up today, I love you all and you helped to make my birthday that much better. Im off to relax and enjoy whats left of the day.

Wooo Im sooo excited i got it done and out before I was ready to leave! this is soo good! So our webby, Myspace and blog all match now, and I feel much better about it. Its a bit more streamline, and a lot less cluttered so Im glad about that!

So excited! tomorrow is the first day of the Philly weekend and Im almost finished getting packed. Good lord the amount of stuff I'm bringing with me is insane. a CARLOAD of crap. CARLOAD. Im just hoping that I wont be bringing much of it back.

For those of you near philly, and are coming out. We are positioned in the CENTER of 19th st right next to the library. If you do come out, dont froget to get the goodie bags from us, and check out the book sales we have going on! We will be the tents with the giant tiki's attatched to it!

Pseudo updating

The signing was awesome! I absolutely LOVE the spotty dog. I got to hangout with the girls, drink for free and sold a bunch of books. Can't get better then that. Ok well you can, but I doubt Colin Farrell was making his way through upstate New York at the time (And If he was, WHERE!?).

So this week is getting ready for all the good stuff for this coming weekend, 2 days with Tilly, Robin and Cat in Philly! YAY! I'm really looking forward to this! Not to mention CHEESE STEAKS! Woo!

One month from today I'll be standing on Scottish soil, and rocking out with my sister. Its getting close, and as much as I'm not excited about flying alone, It has to be done. I just hope Audra is feeling better soon. Please send out good vibes to her for a speedy recovery from her illness.

I'm a bit fuzzy today from all the crappy pollen in the air, so I'm going to report on this weekend when I'm not a mess. I'm tired, my eyes hurt and I need sleep.

So much to do, so little time

June is fast approaching. Signings are fast approaching. My birthday is fast approaching. Deadlines are fast approaching. May is a seriously insane month. I'm looking forward to it all, I have been feeling quite inactive as of late. But with new books to promote, and new venues to promote them in, I'm hopeful that we will gather new fans.
For this tour, I found some very cool new places to do the signings, from a bookstore with a pub inside it, to a string of Borders we haven't worked with before. Lots of new people and new places to stock the books *muahahahahahah!* And of course, I get to chill with the girls. I dont think I could have put together a better signing group. All the ladies that do the events with me are mature, fun and best of all, amazing writers.
And with my birthday coming up, *which I have a signing scheduled* Im hoping to sell out of the books they have for me. That will be the best birthday gift ever. Throw on my Online birthday bash on my Blog Talk Radio show, with all the awesome special author guests that are cool enough to give away awesome goodies and books and ARC's... its really going to be a great birthday.
Deadlines... shit I need to get a hop on those things that are not done yet. And the book for Phaze is almost done. Still gotta write the blurb for this one and take an editing pass on it before its finished. I'm hopeful well have it done by this time next week. Now its all blood and mayhem. I'm down for that.
June 10th is coming like a freight train. I'm so excited to see my sister and spend time in Scotland, but I'm sad that It will be almost a month before I see my JoJo again. Not to mention my Moo. It's going to be tough but I think we can manage.

New cover!

Aud and I got the email that GIFTS is going print June 16th. I'm SO excited. So excited that I redid the cover for the print book. Why? Because I thought we needed a more shelf friendly cover. Small press is a bitch and a half to have your work shelved, and Phaze is no exception. So Im trying to combat that so we get a fair shake on being available. So you wanna see?

Like it? I do. I'm very happy with it. I cant wait to hold it in my hands LOL. So here's hoping it interests sellers enough to buy it for the shelves. Ooh and you wanna see the cover wrap?

Yes Im very excited. Now we have to wait for it... but still It should be worth the wait. I believbe its going to be 280 pages, which rocks cuz its much bigger then Wishbound and people will be able to actually READ it. WOO HOO. So I will have it for the July signings.

And two weeks till the Spotty Dog event. So looking forward to this month of signings! I get to hangout with Tilly, and Cat and Bianca... its a good time when Im with those ladies!

Now, thankfully, RT is over and everyone can get back to normal. Which is good. I mean I wasn't there this year, but I gotta say, from all the stuff I have heard, from the EC stuff to RT allegedly feeding conventioners leftovers at the Awards banquet from the Fairy Ball to the hotel being closer to condemned then to renovated I think RT fucked the cat with this one. On an up note, I got my ticket for my flight to Scotland. So in June I'll be adding pictures, and hopefully video to this blog as I get it while I'm there. We are going to be doing a LOT of sight seeing, mostly for research for the books though so it should be a lot of fun... I'm happy that Ill be spending 21 days with my sister.. damn fun abound. Though I'm a bit apprehensive, that old Twilight Zone with Shatner keeps coming to mind... THERES SOMETHING ON THE WING! Nightflights across the pond... I think I'm going to sleep through it.

Ooh and did anyone see AVPR? damn... I sat here watching that movie purely mystified. Bizzare. I wouldn't wanna meet up with that Pred-Alien... *shudder*

New Contract!

Audra and I haven't been around much in the last two months, due to the wedding, writing and tons of promotions for the print books. We do have good news though. We have signed a contract for our book, A Bitter Kiss of Chaos, with Noble Romance Publishing! And we are doubly excited because we sold on a partial! Needless to say it was a big decision to accept the contract, but we did because we felt Noble Romance Publishing has their act together. They have a monumental marketing plan, a 5 year business plan and the promise of print on the horizon. They have thus far been rather selective on their acceptances, and we are just so tickled to now count them among our publishers!

So today Ill be updating the website and myspace, and putting the word out on our groups and such. we are bot just SO excited!

A note from a read in Cali...

So Steph in Cali sent me this about Fire in His Eyes:
This is a great start to a new world of paranormals. What I really liked was how all the dragons interacted. They each had their own personalities, strengths and weaknesses. The idea of how each elemental dragon was different was fascinating, I wanted to know more about their individual backgrounds, talents and abilities. I especially liked how the decisions each dragon made defined them. Specifically, how their elemental abilities allowed them greater or lesser freedom/abilities, how this may have affected their outlook to life and to new changes. I felt this was very integral to the story (and future stories) since it gave insight into each dragons abilities and how they were able to survive individually. I know that this need to know what will happen to these characters will keep me wanting more. As an example of what I mean, I liked… while Char was relatively strong due to his ‘fire power,’ other dragons such as Keegan were extremely weak and unable to withstand the onslaught of time with a positive outlook. Char’s focused pursuit of Alcyone and how he seduces her and makes her is mate was sizzling. I could feel his strength and knew he and Alcyone would be happy. They were just meant to be together. On the other hand, Keegan, although she was a secondary character touched me very deeply, too. I kept hoping she would find a way to survive. Her pain and suffering seemed very real and tragic, even though I knew she had lived a long life. I didn’t want the others dragons to suffer, too! Could it possible she could make a reprise?! Or another dragon in a similar situation is still able to find the will to survive in spite of the obstacles of their weakened powers? (If you are the author, I know it is bad but most of my favorite characters, well…. I enjoy them suffering a bit so that when they do find happiness I find it all that more satisfying!)

Sooo… although the book had some Hot scenes, what kept me reading were the interesting characters and wanting to know more and MORE about each dragon’s past and how they became they way they are in the book. In fact, if there are any complaints they would have to be I wanted to know more about the dragons and their history. In the end I wanted each to find someone meaningful like Char and have a happy dragon life, too!


OOH needless to say Im sooo excited! that was the COOLEST email i have gotten ever.

well Aud and I hit 40k this week with Masquerade. We had to revamp the 20 k we had, and chucked over 15k so it was a major overhaul. I'm happy t say though that it worked out for the better and the minuscule story lines are aren't going to be pursuing or that cropped up in the telling before the books got published have been cut and its better for it. So I'm hoping for another 40k this coming week... if we can do that then it will work out wonderfully. We need the book to be finished cuz the queue is piling up... Moongardens, Leather and Moonshine, A Bitter Kiss of Chaos, London for the Holidays, Tithe.... The list goes on and on. Needless to say we are up to the challenge.
I need sleep though, and i plan to get it now. Night.

Back to work.

In the past three days respectfully, Audra and I have put a nice dent in getting Masquerade finished. It getting back to our lunatic writing regime, and that means up till about 3am NY time and sleeping a bit later in order to work with that kinda time frame. I don't mind though, the later we are up the more creative we actually get.
So Oscar and Ri are going to be out in either June or July if this works out. I'm not sure about Frost and Flame, probably out for Feb 15th like we planned. This is all good and I LOVE getting work done.
And this weekend is the first EVER author party! Needless to say I'm excited about it. With the girls coming to hangout, and some new readers my mom knows, i think we are going to have a fabulous time, but more on that once the party is over and i can report fully.
Audra's wedding plans are all but made, and now its a 6 month count down for it. Im really excited for her, and for going to Scotland, especially because Aud and I are going to do some hands on research for three of the books we are writing. I need some pictures and some personal experience so this is going to be a lot of fun, and a working vacation.
Ok well Im back to writing, Oscar wont let me rest long, and I love when we work like this, so its not all bad.

Happy New Year!

So this year has been the oddest of all my 28 years.Why? Because I got stuck spending new years with the In laws. Yep. Now normally this isnt really a problem, it was the subject of the evening that has possibly put me in therapy.
Anyone ever see that ben stiller movie The Heartbreak Kid? you know the one with the Wild sex scenes, the clit piercing and nasty hairy muff, Jerry Stiller calling people pussy cocks left and right, and the donkey Show... that one? Yeah well guess who got stuck watching it with there future Mother and father in law? Yep. you guessed it. Moi. And this normally wouldnt be the biggest scaring situation of 07/08 but Joe's parents are not normal. they are rather uptight.. si this was really uncomfortable.
To top it all off, I was SOBER through it all, and STILL AM. nope, no partying for me this year... this year it was gathering fodder for my therapist.. the one that I have resolved to visit after this episode.
I hope Aud has a better new years, but word had it Neil was banned from their neighborhood pub for a brawl. Lord only knows whats going on with her. Ill have to wait and see. But seeing a Donkey Show with my future mother in law? NOT COOL.

So i hope you ALL had a great new years, and drank a couple with me in mind. I'm hoping that 2008 is fruitful for all my friends and us, cuz with all our hard work, we deserve it. So heres to fabulous contracts, fulfilled dreams, amazing sales and good good things the full year for everyone! Happy New Year!

We finally finished our snake novel which is tentatively titled This is Forever. I'm so excited that its done. It took about 6 months to write and that was due to Audra's MIA status most of the year due to planning her wedding. I'm happy though, that its done, and now we are going through it for edits and such. Its a little over 88k and I think its one of the best we have ever written.

So next is finishing up Frost and Flame so it can have its Feb 15th release date with Tease. I cant wait to get Cash and Faris' book out there. its a good one if i do say so myself.

And finally, we are adding a bit to our first American Satyr book and deciding what to do with it. Aud and I have some ideas, but we aren't sure. I'm thinking of letting it sit till after the holidays.

And yet once again Im forced to weigh in

So with all the bullshit going on with the owner of MGP coming back and trying to be an author again a lot of people are pissed and have been weighing in, and at this point I think its about time I said my piece.

First, I pretty much put it all behind me. We got fucked, and we learned something, don't trust people, because we all know about the "best intentions." That said, It does upset me greatly that shes back and playing dumb games. What is most disturbing is that she feels she did nothing wrong. If that was so, she would have paid everyone what she owed them, and no one would have issues with her now. Lets set the record straight.

1st. She told us it cost her 400$ to go print, when i know for a fact it is LESS then 100$ to go print with LSI per book. So thats a blatant lie. I also know that We sold over 150 books, because LSI does a small run of 200 books, which goes to Amazon/Ingrams warehouse. Audra and I sold out of our first run in under two weeks *Which btw, no one else at MGP did in the time it was there least of all Jaden or Teresa* and we never saw one penny of that Money. Now lets not even talk about the copies of the books that were sold on FW, ARe or her cart, Now with our print book royalties at 20% , We would have made about 300$, if not more. granted I took out a generous price of 150$ *which BTW, when sugar went back print it only cost our publisher 98.75$ so I'm being hella generous* and nothing for my editor because to this day she wasn't paid, nor was my editor for our Dragon book either, Just so you guys know* WHERE IS THAT MONEY? She is a charlatan who NEVER had any intentions of paying anyone. And I KNOW LSI paid her but we never received anything. WHAT DID SHE DO WITH OUR MONEY!?

The fact is, if she PAID people she wouldn't be having this backlash, and everyone would just leave her alone. If she was filing bankruptcy, then file, but don't reemerge like nothing happened and try to start over when you have a lot of people waiting on money you contractually agreed to pay.

As to her ramblings on her blog that I was recently shown, it takes a truly delusional person to think she isn't in the wrong for anything she did, especially the shady business dealings.

Personally I don't care what shes doing, just pay me my money that I earned by doing what an author should do, promotions and pushing their book. Situations like this don't endear an author to the publishing process, and at the very least they make a person think twice when wanting to get into publishing because theres more shady people out there then most people realize. And just to clarify, if she WASN'T SHADY she would have PAID EVERYONE and been done with it.
