Finished the damn book.

Yes. Well As of 5pm today I CAN say that. We are so close, and this morning I added almost 700 words in bulk to the edits. I'm a happy girl. So now i have to go through after the last bit is done, do a final edit, change words to UK spellings, and then send it in to our amazing editor. I'm excited, to have this done. RT is less then two weeks away, and I'm just glad this will be off our shoulders.

And next monday Beyond the Vision of Dreams is rereleased! SOOOOO excited. I know Ill be getting our edits for Surrender in Moonight soon as well, and I cant wait to get that cover! So dont forget to check back here on Monday for the contest for the snake novella. Im giving away a Hat, keychain, notepad, and other goodies, including cover magnets to a lucky person (and several smaller gift packs to 5 other winners!) So dont forget to pop by!

It feels good to have this off my shoulders. Now i can get back to normal work. Yes. I know. Always work on this end. Ooh and I have the signing this weekend at Unique Books, in Bayonne NJ. Ill be there with Tilly Greene, Cat Johnson and Ciar Cullen this weekend from 1-4pm and we will have snacks, a gift basket and books galore. dont forget to come and hangout if your in the area!

Cartoons!

Saturday morning relaxation is spent for me in one and only way: watching cartoons! That's right, I watch Pokemon, Ben 10 alien force, Batman, and a slew of others. Why? because it keeps me calm and centered. My uncle, who has a high stress job with the US govt. has sworn by this for years. Just tune everything out, and watch some cartoons, and forget about the world for a while. Its actually very therapeutic.

So that is my saturday morning, just throw in a cup of tea. Yummy.

Why do I mention this? Because my stress level is through the roof because we haven't finished this book yet. Yesterday Aud had an emergency, and we didn't get more then 50 words done between us. We have two scenes left to do, maybe three depending on what audra wants to do, and I dont think its going to happen by the deadline. So im watching my cartoons and relaxing because Im already getting chest pains. Yes, my stress manifests into pain. not too fun.

So I hoping my prediction about finishing this is false, and that we do infact finish this. Its been a long time coming and Im eager to finish it and get back to the two novels we need to finish for release later this year.

Wish me luck.

busy busy busy

Yes, its been a busy week so far. We are writing, we are getting the book finished for deadline on Friday and I'm getting ready for the signing on the 11th (and the concert) and putting finishing touches on my RT prep. Its been crazy, but I think after RT is done, then things will get back to somewhat Normal.

The book on deadline is almost ready. I have been editing and adding as I wait for Audra to get her bum online, which is good as there were a few holes, but it seems to make sense now. I cant wait for this to be done, so we can focus on Masquerade and then Moongardens. Yay for progress.

And soon Beyond the Vision of Dreams will be out. SO excited. I'll be posting our contest for the book on release day, where you will have 2 chances a piece to win a gift pack including a very cool ball cap, and some other goodies. So stay tuned.

So I'm back to writing, I have some more to get through before Audra gets online, so much to still do to make this one shine, and I think its because the characters weren't as real to us as the others. So it will be up to you (and our Editor) to decide if we nailed it. I'm hoping we did, its been a tough couple of months with this one.

Countdowns!

RT is just around the corner. So is our signing at Unique Books in Bayonne. And the concert I'm going to as well. so much to do. and OMG I have to send SO MUCH PROMO in the mail. This isn't going to end well.

So this is our last week to finish this book and get it to our amazing editor. Its almost done, and I'm hopeful it will be finished by Friday and I wont be stressing about it anymore. So I'm committed to getting at least 2k finished myself today. I can only hope Audra will get her ass online and write. But she knows we are on deadline so...

Ooh and in 2 weeks BEYOND THE VISION OF DREAMS finally comes back out! SO excited. I got our author copies today. Needless to say we are really excited, and I cant wait to see what readers say about the book. ooh and Im going to run a contest too starting on the 13th so be on the look out!

Ok its back to writing, I have a bunch to do today, and lunch is calling my name. See you guys later!

NECRWA: Recap on weekend

First, lovely time. Met some awesome ladies (Corrina and Teresa, LOVE YOU!) and saw some of my buddies from signings, and got to catch up with people. The workshop went well, and the others i went to, I learned a lot. So it was a good time. Ooh and the bar had Blue Moon, so that was a plus.

The book signing, I got to sit next to some lovely ladies, and it was fun (Leprecock chocolate anyone?) and the girls from the Black Cats Book club came to see me, I love them. I don't however, love Carla. She needs to quit being a snot. *smile*

And now I have thrown down the gauntlet with Ms. Andersen. She had the most FABOO blue velvet jacket on Saturday, and I was JEALOUS! so now I have to get something that's going to trump that beauty. I talk a big game, but the truth is that jacket was amazing.

The big goodie of the weekend was i did my first actual pitch, and didnt botch it too much. the editor asked for a partial, and Im taking it as a major win, even if she doesnt take it, atleast i faced the fear to do it up. so im proud of me.

So now its getting the submission ready, and pairing down the synopsis. then i have to write.
Oh on the good side, aud and i have about 18k on the book we have on deadline. we are doing anther 12 this week. we have a deadline, and i think we are going to make it. for once.

Signing tomorrow!

Tomorrow Ill be with several other authors: Jackie Kessler, Toni Andrews, K.A.Mitchell, Ciar Cullen, Cat Johnson, Allie Boniface, Leigh Ellwood, Tilly Greene and Selena Illyria for a stunning and fantastic signing at the Princeton location of Chicklet Books! We will be doing a signing, reading and Q and A panel, as well as plying you with food and wine. Yep, its our first wine and sign signing and I cant wait. The signing is from 5-9 and we are going to be WILD!

So we will have i think three gift baskets, lots of snacks and wine and drinks. It should be a lot of fun I think. So if your close enough, come and hangout with us, and learn about some fun books and get to know some awesome authors.

I have been neglecting blogging this week because I'm on my last legs of promotional detail. Next weekend I have a workshop at NECRWA and The Spotty Dog) So its a busy weekend. The good news is that i have all my promo done for TEB and for PHAZE. Two less things to do.

Audra found her way back online, and we banged out 3k last night between talking about another book. It was a good thing, and we got some ideas for the third Satyr story, but the second is only partially written so that will have to wait. we do love getting ahead of the game.

So im back to writing. I need to hit another 2k today on my own for one of the other books we have in the works. Wish me luck, and dont forget to come tomorrow!

What e books mean to audra and I

Since its E book week, and we are part of the Go Green Read E ambassadors this year, I figured my inaugural post about e books would be about what they mean to us. So onward.

E books meant opportunity for us. Opportunity for our writing, and to reach a world wide audience. With e books we were able to break into writing, able to get our work out there, however rocky the road actually was.

When we started, E book was really the only avenue available to us, and trust me, unlike most, it was the worst beginnings. we made a lot of mistakes, signed with some of the wrong companies, but on the whole, E books are what got us our first real fans. And it wasn't till after we got the first books in print that we met them in person, but needless to say we were always grateful.

E books allow for readers to get a taste of work that NY isnt up to publishing yet, and I have realized that without e book we would all be stuck with the same five authors in the romance genre, because its too hard to take a chance on something new when your doing print runs. Also, with the e books, its instant. People talk to you in a chat they wanna read you, they do in minutes. So much easier.

AAd is now up and ready to rock!

the Authors After Dark Paranormal Weekend event is up and ready to rock! We just put the website up today, and the registration and the pay pal option as well. I cant wait for October now, Audra and I are going to both be there, and you, the reader, should come as well. its CHEAP, a fraction of what you pay for RT and it will have some of your favorite authors attending. this is an event that's intimate, and sure to become a convention staple in the next few years.

We have some fantastic goodies, events and classes for everyone and guess what? we feed you! that's right, 4 full meals and a cocktail hour and ice cream sundae party. Both the ice cream party and the masque we are having on saturday night will be flanked by a DJ, and lots of good food.

So go check out the website, and get your registration in, cuz this is limited to 200 attendees, including authors!

getting ready for RT and the other events ...

My relaxing March is pretty much over before it began. This month I have three events, four actually, and I need to get ready for them all, not to mention April, and then in May more signings. So. Im doing what any smart author does: Thinking about promo.

See, With NECRWA coming up, I need to bring to stuff for my workshop, which consists of props, cd's of templates, worksheets and lists of websites. That's not too bad. But I have to get it together. But what do I bring this time for my promo for our books? I know business cards, I dont leave home without them in my business card case (Which is uber steampunk) and my I DO IT DEMONSTYLE stickers (Which I have to order more of today). But Should I bring the Book cards for GIFTS? and bookmarks for London For the Holidays? I think thats a safe bet. Maybe some Eververse postcards too. We will see. Normally I would bring a lot but with RT on the horizon, I gotta conserve.

RT will have I Do It Demonstyle pins and stickers, as well as some flyers, bookmarks, brochures and other special stuff like metal hook bookmarks, snowflake earrings, bath salts, and snowflake medallions. What else should I do? Anyone? Anyone going to RT that wants something special from the books we write?

May is the CT Fiction Fest, and Ill be running my workshop there as well, just a little modified. So the usual comes there, and probably whatever promo I have left over from RT will as well, and I think Im going to do bath salts again for this event, because lets face it, everyone loves to relax.

So what, as readers, do you like getting from authors? What are you tired of getting from authors? Please comment. One winner will get a Eververse promo prize packet!

The world went white. AGAIN

So here in upstate NY we have about 5 inches, and its still falling. So LAME. Im over the snow now, and SO want spring to come. This is getting ridiculous. Still, I plan on spending the day writing and watching some old and fun musicals. Which ones?

Grease 2, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bye Bye Birdie... it should be an interesting day. Im hoping to get about 5k written on a Dagmar Avery story, and maybe another 2k on the snake book Audra and I are on deadline for. Lets hope we get it going right. I at least have an outline.

And ooh Im so excited because WATCHMEN comes out this weekend. I hear there's a lot of full frontal male nudity... so I cant wait. How do I know, Cara North, the bitch, saw it as a sneak preview this past weekend with her hunny on the Base. Yes. SO JEALOUS. But Im looking forward to seeing it friday.

Ooh and Joe got me Tix to see THE FAINT in april. So anyone going to our signing in Bayonne on April 11th, Ill be running into the city after to Webster Hall to see The Faint and get my dance on. SO excited!

Ooh and youll notice to your left that we put up a poll. Yep. we wanna know who your favorite characters are, so that we can decide on what the new shorts will be for this coming year... If you wanna read about them, we wanna write about them. So get your votes in ASAP!

Ok I'm getting my ass back to writing. Hypnos is a harsh taskmaster.

Building

I don't know how many of you guys know, but we have a cool little newsletter group. If your interested in our work, you might wanna join up. Normal newsletter stuff, one or two emails a month. If your interested, Join up HERE.

Also, I'm starting up our snail mailing list again! Those who sign up for this can expect signed book flats, postcards, CD's of free books, and other cool stuff as I get it, as well as appearances lists and all. I had done this up a while ago, and there was a nice set of people that wanted stuff, but they didn't enter our contests involving our work on the whole. So I'm going to start the mailings up again, starting in May, so get your name in and everything! You can check it all out on THIS PAGE.

Moo had a complication with his head (as some of you know,) and its back to healing nicely, which is awesome for him and me. Im hoping to get back to normal for all the stuff i need to get going, and hopefully work will get back to normal. I have stuff piling up.

Ooh and Audra has started a new business venture. She is going to be breeding morphs, and by that I mean snakes. I'm excited for her, It is something shes always wanted to do so it should be good for her. And hopefully getting us to be writing more.

So I'm off to write a bit. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Friday, February 27, 2009

Moo update.

Well doctor says hes fine, and that the gash is healing really well. He was SOOOO good at the vet today and is now hunkering down for his afternoon nap. He looks pleased with himself.

So I'm hopefully going to write today, even if its just for Dagmar. I think I'm going to sit with the Moo and read a bit, then write a little. Maybe. we will have to see. I have to make packages up and still design some promo for RT. So today might be busier then I expected.

And I thought i would mention, we have a new review at ck2s Kwips and Kritiques for London for the Holidays: 5 KLOVERS! Woooo You can read the review HERE.

Also, on the same site, they have interviewed us for their Feb interviews! Im sooo excited. You can read that HERE.

And lastly, we finally have a home on the TEB forum. I have posted a excerpt for the Snakes there, and would love it if you could stop by and give us your opinion. You can check it all out HERE.

So have a great day and awesome weekend!

a happy accident.

So we found out today that Beyond the Vision of Dreams will be pushed up to April 13th, a whole week early! So I'm soooo excited about that. Now I have to do some promo for the book now, I think I'm going to do book cards and postcards I think.

So tomorrow I take Moo to get his sutures out. Im happy to report hes pretty much back to normal, and the wound looks very good. Im hoping his recovery will continue to be speedy. I need my Moo back to normal.

Still working on some more jewelry for RT, but Im happy to say the Sugar Skull Mafia pins are now all done and ready for fun. Im still waiting on new pieces so I can finish off some ideas. I hate when supplies dont show up when they are supposed to.

Ok back to work for me. Just thought I would pop in and give you guys the update.

New Design

Yes, I thought we needed a sprucing up. Audra and I have been working on this design for about 2 months, and yes the curtains match the carpet, or rather, the blog matches the website.

So the Snake and the Octopus... that's me and Audra. Or rather Audra is the snake, im the octy. HEH. I think it was about time we changed the site around, we needed something more streamline and easy and clean looking. Im really happy with it, especially because we have all these events coming up and the site looks 100% more professional.

so what do you think? Pretty? too dark? not sexy enough?

Update on Moo.

Thanks to everyone who have sent good wishes and positive thoughts our way concerning Moo. hes home, two days into his recovery and you wouldn't even know he was sick, well aside from the large sewn gash in his head, and he looks like friar tuck with half his head saved. But hes eating, taking his meds like a good boy and finally starting to sleep through the night. I might be able to get back to my bed this coming week.

Well thats the plan. Moo is still running from us when we have to spray the Bactine on him, It was that or leave him at the vet because he wont let us put the neosporin on him, so its been interesting. Thank you to everyone who has called me and helped out with everything, especially his bills. They were steep, but I feel good now that we can pay it, and that I have such amazing friends that would even think of helping us out for this.

So Im off to cuddle with him while he relaxes, then give him his meds. Have a good weekend everyone. Ooh and Ill have a new context week. Stay tuned.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Today is truly a day of days.

Why? because today is Audra's 25th birthday. Rejoice!

Im hoping shes having a good day in the land of scots, though I know I will speak to her later on today. So I hope you will join me in wishing her health, wealth and happiness this year, and may her 25th be even more special then she could ever hope for.

Happy Birthday sis.

Covers, voting, and surgery

Yes... Its been a rough couple of days since my last post. I'm sitting here watching Dollhouse, which is interesting to say the least and I'm tired as hell. My poor moo is very ill, needs an operation, and is miserable. Hes been sleeping a lot, which might not be good, but at least hes not scratching his head and turning my condo into grind house with blood everywhere. Its been a crappy day and last night was horrible. Hes got his surgery on Thursday but I'm going to call tomorrow and get it earlier. My poor Moo.

So You guys can guess why Im just not very excited today, and if you cant sense my lethargy, then I am doing a good job of hiding it. Im so tired but I have to stay awake to watch BSG. But I figured I would mention a few things. First, The Fantasms are up and around once again... and we are up for THREE this year! Please pop by and show your support for us and vote for Frost and Flame in the Best Demonic Novel Category, Deep Water in the Best Shifter Non-Wolf category, and Hot Rio Nights in the Best Paranormal Romance Story. Please Please Please, we really wanna win these this year. We won the Best Shifter Non- wolf a few years back... and we would love to win the Best Demonic too! And Please vote for our friends Bianca D'Arc, Larissa Ione, Ashleigh Raine and Tilly Greene too!

Last but not least, we got our cover for the first in the Snake Novella series, Beyond the Vision of Dreams. Its sexy... And I hope you guys like it and are inticed to pick it up after seeing it.
Ok well thats it. Im off to watch BSG and snuggle with my moo. Have a goof Valentines day everyone... Ooh and for the Eververse readers, Arcady and Snow just had a cute V day short put out on ARe. And its priced nice at 99 cents. Pick it up and see how the hottie Incubus and his frosty lady is doing this V day! Night.

What do readers want?

Ok so I know we have a lot of readers, and we are thankful for each and every one of you. Because of you, we have been able publish several series and stories and tell our tales to the world. But I want to know what is it that draws you to a book, and when is a subject done to death for you?

The reason why I ask is that at ComiCon in NYC this past weekend, I went to a few panels, and the publishers that were there were showing off their coming soon work, and I gotta tell you, the amount of books that were the same kept me ill.

When I see the same book being spun out over and over I feel like the editors are flooding the market and just giving you more of them same. Case in point. I saw a publisher that put out atleast 4 books involving a PI who solves supernatural crimes. The same pub is putting out atleast 4 urban fantays's with a female kickass heroine written in 1st person. Same publisher is jumping on the vampire YA band wagon, as well as putting out books about Seelie/Unseelie fey and more werewolves. So where is the variety? Do readers wanna just have the choice of three or 4 subjects? Do they want the same old same old every month's release? What is it that they wanna see in books, and why isnt NY listening?

See, I feel like there no room in NY for the unique books that I think readers would embrace. Oh sure theres flukes, like the Jessica Andersen series about the 2012 armageddon, and they have been doing great from what I hear, but aside from Ms. Andersen and a few others that the pubs have taken the chances on, the market remains largely the same book different author. So whaty say you? Are you cowed by the "variety" NY is giving you, or do you Not wanna try anything new, and stay with the old stand bys? How is this industry going to progress to another level, and survive if they just keep giving us the same thing to read? What say you?

So... Now that you are here and have decided to comment here as well... Lemme give you the skinny. there are three blogs and that entitles you to three comments. Each comment will be entered in a contest that will be concluded on Feb 28th and announced on the TEB blog. The winner will recieve a 20$ gift certificate from either BN.com, Amazon.com or Borders, their choice. Pretty good prize just for giving us your opinions eh? So lets get to it... and good luck.

Saturday, February 07, 2009

So tired.

Im so damn tired I could probably sleep a week. But thats not going to happen. The signing went well, we had a great time and meat some fantastic new readers and friends. Im hoping that everyone had a good time. But the drive back was hellish and my body is tired from me tottering about on 4 inch heels. So not my thing.

Tomorrow is ComiCon, and Im excited as hell. But my ass has to get up at 630 AM to make sure im all set to go at 815. YEAH. So Im going to bed, cuz I need it. Ill have pictures form Comicon I think, I forgot my camera in all the hubbub this morning. I know some of the other girls did get piccys so they will be soon.

So Im done. Stick a fork in me, just dont wake my ass up till 630.

Lots and Lots

Of stuff to do this week before the big hunkin signing and the Comic Con! And you know what? Im not even caring. Im futzing about doing stuff that could wait, and not doing what I need to be. No this isnt procrastination, this is me interested in what i WANT to do not what NEEDS doing. Le Sigh.

So I made some new jewelry, two neclaces, one pendant charm and a pretty sweet steampunk ring. Im going to take pictures of them in a little while and then post them on the ETSY shop. Im just a bit behind.

Also, last month we only did a little over 34k, and Im aiming for 50 this month. So, Im pushing to write atleast 500 words a day this month, but with the month so short, Im hoping it ends up as such. Audra and I are hip deep in three books, and we need to get them finished ASAP.

And Saturday is the signing! Finally! I have had this set up for months now and the freaking awesome lineup of authors attending this has really made me more excited for the event. I need to make cupcakes, and brownies, and get some sparkling cider and juice, but I really cant wait regardless of all the crap i have to do.

OOh and today started my new excersize regime. Yes, Im looking to loose 10 lbs for RT. I think I can do it.

So its back to writing, and taking pictures. Im hoping audra and I can hit 1k today.

Saturday, January 31, 2009

January is OVER.

And it was sorta productive. Month's count of words: 34,400. Not bad, but it could have been WAY better. We got a LOT done on a few books, and have learned a lot more about the characters we are now working with. I'm hopeful we can double our output for Feb, even though Audra's 25th Birthday is in Feb and Valentines day and all.

did a LOT of promo designs and ordering today. I ordered our pin (button design). Check it:
Pretty? I think so. Yes, if your at RT this year, I will be giving these out along with new DEMONSTYLE stickers. I cant wait. LOL.

So Im out. I have some work to do tonite and Need to get ready for tomorrow. What do you guys think of the button? Ill give you guys some more info about what we are doing at RT soon... I dont wanna ruin the surprise! OOh and all the special goodies too!

Lates!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Damn it. the world went white again.

Damn snow. Makes my life complicated. But not as complicated as Audra, who is trying to complete;y defrost her freezer. Shes got more ice in that thing then there should be, and swears shes chipping away at ice older then her. Yes. Life for Audra is always an adventure.

So with the snow completely dashing any hopes I have of getting out of the house, I plan on working on some new promo design for RT, and some work on the worksheets and such for my workshops. Ooh and some new jewelry. I have some new stuff I still have to list at Stella by Starlight, and Im waiting on some components for my personal RT jewelry.

So today is a bit of work on Moongardens, the long awaited 3rd book in our dragon elementals series. Our Hero is in a Snit because he feels hes waited long enough to get his shit going on. I agree. Spiria has been really interested to meet her guy, so today is going to be a lot of this. Lets hope we get a lot done.

So im off to make some jewelry and wait on Audra. Have a good snow day!

Friday, January 23, 2009

Mushy brain... but with good reason

I feel good.

Audra and I write 12k yesterday, and put a major dent in the second Satyr story. It was good, but now I need to go back in and bulk up, and get the next part ready for next week since we don't write on the weekends. I'm glad we got so much done, though the book isn't on deadline, we have in fact thought up the rest of the series, and what happens after Olanis. Yes, its going to be good. With the first book out for submissions, Im glad we are a bit further then halfway done with the second book.

And we have to really get on the third snake novella because its due in April. We have some done, but it needs a bigger dent to feel like we are back on track. But both books are going well, and we are meeting some new characters and falling back in love with old ones. It feels good to be in this again.

Ooh and we just finished perusing our galley for London for the Holidays. It will be in print soon. Very excited. It will be good to have something new out. So im back to bulking and some promo and cover work. have a good weekend everyone.

it is interesting...

Thank you to all of you that commented and subscribed to the blog. I'm not very surprised that you all feel the same as me about this insanity, and that I haven't been doing things wrong by not writing every minute of every day out on this page for the world to see. Nothing I have done in the past 4 months is that interesting.

And thank you severely for commenting in general. Sometimes I really do feel like Im just posting things here for my health, mental health that is. See I do believe you need to blog, that its healthy, and is a natural outlet for writers especially, but I do believe in too much therapy. Sometimes it can hurt you as much as it helps you.

At least I know we are still on the right track. Now to take that next step.

But thats for later, when I actually do it. If you are available tonite, we(myself and the other Pantheon authors) will be at TRS at 9pm est for a live chat and will be giving away copies of the Pantheon stories in e book. Its a great little antho and I hope you will attend.

Ooh and for those of you in CT: the Feb 7th signing is still on! Borders has been awesome with helping us set this up, and know its going to be a freaking amazing signing, 15 authors and snacks and drinks and lots of gifts and prizes. If you live close enough, come and hangout, we are raffling off 15 gift baskets from 15 different authors!

But for now, Im off to write. Audra and I have to get another 5k done today, at minimum, and put a major dent in these MS's!

Monday, January 19, 2009

Apparently, we arent popular

So let the ranting begin.

Ok so I was talking with another of our amazing writer friends and she told me that an agent said that they check out how popular an author is by the subscriptions to the feeds of the blogs they are on. Well this got me thinking...

See, We don't have many subscriptions on the blogs we are on (Even at the Authors After Dark Blog, which is home to several NYTBS authors!) So by this agent's reasoning, we aren't in any way popular, nor are they. This irks me.

See, the truth is, I dont blog much on here, and I blog on my appointed day at the group blogs. Why dont I blog here? Because I dont have anything interesting to say for one, and for two, I would much rather be writing a new book or story to get out to you, our awesome readers. But apparently, because I dont blog a lot I dont have a lot of readers and that inturn makes me very unpopular. Does that make any sense? I mean I'm not Neil Gaiman for gods sake.

Sorry. Gimme a chance to center my chi.

Ah thats better. See, I dont find the majority of what I have to say on the every day scale interesting, and I dont think you would either. See, I have no life outside of this computer most of the time, and I rarely leave my house in the winter. And to be honest, my personal life isnt sordid or anything either. The Hunny comes over, we eat dinner, he's on his compy I'm on mine, When hes tired, he kisses me good night, and he leaves. No, he doesnt live with me.

I'm not part of any sort of crazy publishing dibacle, nor am going to spew venom about publishers I'm not with nor know nothing about the inner workings of. I do my writing, I love my publishers (mostly) and I hope for a better tomorrow. Could I be blogging about my 100R's for the snake novel? Yes. Would that be wise? No. Me bitching about the closed mindedness of the industry isn not going to do anything for the book or my career aside from getting us blacklisted from several agents and publisher.

Do I want all that? No.

So I blog about the positive, and on occasion, if something really pisses me off, I will blog about it, in a rational and concise manner, as i have done in the past. But the positives are few and far between. We dont have releases every month, and we dont have anything insane happening to make us keep you up to date on the awesomeness that is our books. I blog about events, and I blog about awards we are up for, but again: few and far between.

I dont blog about our books on the whole because a lot of what we are writing isnt in the mainstream, and I'll be honest, WE want to be the one known for trailblazing. So I dont say much about the new characters we have, races we have developed or storylines we are working on because the last thing we need is to be shut out of something we write first because someone with a NY contract or with a publisher more popular then the ones we are with has bitten it off and gotten their book pubbed first. Not that I'm saying anyone would steal an idea, but if I dont put it out there, theres not coincidence. I know people have similar ideas, bu paranoia in this industry runs rampant.

So either I should get a life and quit trying to write and get work out (as they always say, the best promotion is to write another book) or just keep on my merry way and hope for the best. Or, you, our grandiose readers, can just subscribe to the bloggy via Blogger, RSS or feedburner, and let me know that what we do we do not do in vein.

Oh and BTW, getting a life isnt as easy as it sounds when you live here. Will I be blogging about my numerous signings this year? Yes, and the events I'm going to (ComiCon) and the ones I have been invited to attend(NECRWA and CTRWA)? Yes. Will I tell you all about the books we have coming up and offer contests that no one will enter? Yes. So nothing really has changed on this side of the blog... I guess maybe we just need to know we arent alone out there.

So what say you? Just because your not a darling of the blog feed world, do you really have to worry that your not popular and all the other stuff you do to further your career isnt paying off? Do you as a reader always subscribe to blogs? Do you know how? Please comment on anything in this blog... I'm open to a discussion.

SO Excited!

So i sent our edits back to our TEB editor (who is by far, the COOLEST) and I'm very happy with the changes she made to the book, and the feedback she gave us pertaining to how we write and the stories we tell. I like her a lot, and I'm looking forward to working with her on the next books (And more if things work out well!)

And now I'm even more anxious to see what cover we get! Not to mention I have promo to design for the book too. Apparently we release on the 20th of april, which is awesome, because its the week of RT and we can really promote it at the Expo. SO looking forward to that.

So today is some writing on the third snake novella for TEB, and hopefully some extra promo work done for another author. Its a good day.

Reconnection and sweaters.

So yesterday was no writing day. Why? because Audra and I spent the day on the phone and then the evening on video Skype. It was more fun then I have had for a long time. Every once in a while, we need to do that, just chat till we don't understand each other, and drink a bottle or two of wine. It was a good time, and it felt good to reconnect with Audra, to remember why it is we love each other, why we dont fight about our books and why we adore the characters that live with us.

FYI: the snake in the sweater conversation still has not been resolved.

So today is a no writing day either. Its Battlestar Galactica Day. So im doing some promo work, and watching BSG marathon on SciFi and then Ill have dinner brought from Pizza Hut and enjoy my night.

I have great hope that next week we will put a mega dent in the WIP, and hopefully finish up some work that has been dangling. Ah. I love 2009.

Finished and off!

So our revisions for Of Crimson and Collars are done, and off to the editor, and now the waiting game begins. We added a lot, about 10k, which was insane considering our schedule for the holiday season, but I'm very happy with how it turned out. It feels good to get it out there, and to see if it will see the light of day this year. I think it needed to get lengthened and get more depth then when we first wrote it.

So now we wait. But no idly. We are already hard at work on the second of the series, and have a small chunk started, so I'm excited about that as well. And the fact that we are already hard at work on the the third snake novella, A Gift of Daybreak, for Total -E-Bound. Its stewing, simmering like a pot, and scenes and dialog are rising to the surface. So excited. I LOVE that we are getting to return to these characters yet again and see whats going on with them. The Knossos West snakes are just fantastic, and we hope everyone likes Fajer and Andy... and a sneak peak to some new snakes that you will see in the novels(still praying for NY with those.)

So im back to work. I need to decide on a name for the next Satyrs book, and have to write atleast 2k today to keep on schedule. Blogging done, on the next thing.

Excerpt: Beyond the Vision of Dreams

Hey all. theres been some requests for an excerpt for the first Snake were book, so I thought I would oblige. This is a small excerpt from the first book in the Knossos West Weresnakes series, Beyond the Vision of Dreams, in which Remy Crane, unmated Python, meets the woman hes been dream screwing for a few weeks at the front door of the Mansion...

The Compound, A sprawling mansion just outside town sat on about fifty acres of land and was hidden by the dense copes of evergreens, elms and birches that were indigenous to the area. For the past hundred years it had housed the upstate New York nest with relative ease and very little scrutiny. The residents had the freedom to come and go as they pleased, live their own lives, and not have to worry about the once a month hunt in a place where giant snakes were unheard of. The fifty acres that surrounded the sixty five thousand square foot mansion was protected land, lush and fertile and the perfect environment for the nest to hunt in.

He loved it here, and had stayed because of that, when a good portion of the other males had gone to other crèches. New York just flat out did it for him, and he loved the people here. As he walked down the next set of stairs he took in the ground floor tiling, the embedded snake motif that weaved through it was only truly visible from the third floor stand off outside the Archon’s room but from living here so long he knew exactly where to look. As he descended the stairs, the pattern became geometric shapes, not meant to be seen by just anyone coming to the house. It was a little trick to them, a way of hiding what they were but keeping it all out in the open.

Remy was so engrossed in his musings he didn’t even notice the woman standing in the foyer. As he bumped into her he cursed and shook the pleasant thoughts from his mind and concentrated on being the gentleman most people rarely saw when they looked at him. “Ah shit let me help you up! I didn’t see you there, I’m sorry.” He rambled, focusing on the dark black hair and that was hanging in the woman’s face. “Are you ok?”

“Sure,” she bit out snarkly, “Don’t mention it, I try to get knocked on my ass at least once a day.” She growled as she straitened herself out, and pulled back her hair, and Remy almost died.

He blinked not sure how the hell this was happening, but the woman from his dreams, the woman whose body he knew so damn well was standing right in front of him, and boy was she better than the dream one. Tight stomach peaking from under her cut off band shit, ample high breasts, tiny waist, hips just right to hold onto , long shapely legs encased in ultra low hip huggers… his cock was growing hard just looking at her. Her lips and eyes caught him and he bit back a groan of need as he tried to gain composure. She was exactly like his dream, what the fuck was going on here?

His composure back in place he smirked. “You don’t live here, what exactly are you doing here? Picking someone up? Delivering something? No, that’s not it, you’re not dressed in any manner to be delivering anything, except maybe a…” he trailed off. The fact that he was about to end the sentence with ‘except maybe a wet dream’ did not escape him. Seeing his dream girl in the flesh, in front of him, well none of his thoughts were G rated, not even PG rated.

The woman raised an eyebrow. “Don’t live here? Gee, well that’s a nice attitude... I'm new, I just got here. Didn’t anybody mention it?”

He shook his head. “Sorry, I didn’t hear from the Archon that we were getting a new arrival, of course that could be cuz I missed the house meeting... Where the fuck are my manners? I’m Remy Crane.” He extended his shaky hand to her. The nest as it stood was twenty people, including the Archon, himself, the other four single snakes still searching, two sets of couples and the remaining ten were the couples’ children, respectively, though the crèche as a whole took responsibility for raising the young. Now they were at twenty-one with this ravishing creature joining them. Well twenty-one has always been my lucky number.

She took his hand, "Chrissy Stanford. It’s nice too meet you, even if I didn't quite enjoy the trip to the floor." She smiled at him.

"I’m sorry; I’m not used to meeting up with anyone this early in the day. My mind was elsewhere."

"Obviously. So you missed a meeting? I didn't think that was allowed in such a big nest."

"Elise runs a very informal household. While we all belong to the nest, we all have our own lives. Each of us has things we do, even her, so she is really lax about that stuff." Not to mention I’m not the first one they tell anything to, but why bring that up to her?

She smiled nodding. "So, I don’t suppose there’s a hope in hell that you know where she's going to put me? All my things are kinda at the door and it's gonna take a few trips as it is. I’d like to get it all away as soon as..."

He smiled. "Odds are you’ll go on the second floor. Most of the rug rats are on the first floor, the second and third reserved for the adults." he shook his head. "God I’m an asshole. Let me help, cool? Kinda like making up for the ass plant."

"Sure thing, that was my next question anyway. So, what do you do, Remy? That is when you’re not knocking people over." She grinned teasingly at him.

Interested? Well lemme know what you think! Beyond the Vision of Dreams will be out April 20th 2009.

Day one of the 2 month work week

Ok its not a work week...

But well, Audra and I have 8 weeks for writing ahead of us to put a dent into out WIP list. Why 8 weeks? becuase Audra's hubby is away for 2 months for work. So we have decided to try and get atleast 4 books out of the way, but we are going to try for 6.

What 6?

Masquerade, Of Crimson and Collars, A Gift of Daybreak, Darkness, yet untitled Satyrs Book, and Tithe.

Of Crimson and Collars is a Revise and Resubmit, and has one scene left till its done. I'm confident that we will be getting it finished this week and edited down to send back in. Heres hoping we get it done.

Masquerade is needing at least another 35-40k. We will be finishing this, no doubt, though I cant say if it will be this month, or next.

A Gift of Daybreak is the third in our Snake novella's. We are thinking its going to end up being around 30k, and Im hoping that we get the book finished by the end of Feb.

Darkness, our new Agent book, Needs 5 more scenes and an epilogue. Im content that it will be completey finished and ready to pitch by April.

The yet as untitled Satyr book, book 2, needs to end up being atleast 20k before the end of the 2 months.

Tithe is our short story about a fallen and a regular angel. Its a romance, but its not a HEA, and its been hard to write because we keep crying. its sad to say the least. So Im hoping we get to it but Im not holding my breath. We shall see.

So I have already worked on Masquerade today, done about 1k and Im back to work now to get another 1k done before Aud gets online. Heres hoping.

As a dancer on the club circuit, her chances of meeting a quality guy are slim to none, that is, until loner vampire Malcolm Frost walks into her life.

Then word comes in of a serious threat to Thisbe from a wolf pack, and Malcolm has to spirit her out of London to his employer's mansion deep within the territory of a master vampire who has a price on his head. Malcolm was never good at playing nice with others of his own kind.

Lots going on!

Well this will be a lean year for us in contests and lists, but we did get on a few! Audra and I are nominated for Authors of the Year at PE, and GIFTS is up for cover of the year at PE as well as me being up for Artist of the Year. If you got the chance, please go and vote for us!

And I just found out, I'm up for Cover Artist 2008 at Love Romances Cafe, and up for Cover of the Year with The Werewolf Whisperer, a cover I have already won a Ariana for this year at the Eppies.

Good stuff. I'm excited. And I'm very excited that London for the Holidays comes out with Phaze on Monday. FINALLY! Malcolm will be out to the reading public, and you guys will get your fix of our smarmy vampire. And his cover is delicious, and the story is hot! its our first threesome story (enter: Hottie Fallen Angel Sammael!) and our first vampire story. It will probably be the only one too. Unless we do a short. *shrug* it depends. I hope youll go and pick it up monday, And help us start the new year off right!

Ooh and if you dont know, We have revived our Newsletter group and will be giving away goodies and books with each issue. So JOIN NOW and get in on all the goodies and infor for this year!

On the writing front, I started writing the second Satyrs book last night, hit about 2k, And I think you guys will like this one as much as the first (Once you read Ben and Minerva's book!). We are almost finished with the rewrites for book one, titled Of Crimson and Collars , and it has been lengthened 4k so far already. Im very happy with that. and it should end up around 35k once we are done. And Lets all hope the pubby that asked for the R&R will take it when we send it back in. I do love this story and the Satyr world so much.

Also, Now that Aud will have the time to get stuff done, we are going to be finishing up loose ends so to speak. Masquerade, Bitter Kiss, Tithe, Moongardens... Its coming to an end LOL.

And Im LOVING how A Gift of Daybreak is coming out. Our snakes are a favorite of ours for a reason, and its great to get back to those who you love and understand so well. I think the readers of our snake series are going to love this one, and finally see what a country club kid passes for in the Ophidian world.

So im back to writing, I need to get another 2k done today and I have lots to write!

A year gone, a year ahead

in less then 18 hours, 2008 will be a memory. I'm happy about it. this year was rife with disappointments. We got over 100 rejections from agents for a book, And no, it wasn't because it was a bad book, or poorly written. The subject kinda threw them off. *shrug* we will try again with it, the book itself deserves a bigger distro and a bigger contract. the book is unique and different and I think the industry needs it.

Then, our writing has been slim and none this year. Its only been recently that we have gotten something substantial done, and thankfully. a book that would have normally taken us 1 month to write took 10. Ugh it sucked. The book is good though.

We had FEW releases this year, and that sucked as well. I like having a bunch of things coming out. Keeps me on my toes, but I have noone to blame for that but me and Audra.

So already 2009 has been shaping up better. We have a release almost every month from January to June, Audra's hubby is going to be away from home for 2 months starting Jan 5th so we can get all the WIP's off our list, and I plan on pitching at RT this coming April. Im hopeful that everything will be better in 2009. I know a lot of people are.

I know with the industry being what it is, that we all have a tough time ahead of us all by way of selling, but i think 2009 is going to be a better year for everyone. Readers are still reading and those of us that are really serious about our work are out there in the trenches to get that sale. I hope all of us that are going that extra mile for our careers are recognized for it.

I will be doing my part, and have been just told that Ill be one of the Go Green Authors for the ARe promotion starting in March 2009. Im so excited about this, and see the opportunity as one of the great things Ill be involved in next yet. More on that as i get it.

So happy New Year to all. Enjoy some alcohol and food with freinds tonite, and resolve to make next year 100% better for you and yours.

the holidays and whats coming this week

I swear im the most boring person in the world. Nothing big to report for christmas. Still didnt get what i wanted for christmas, surprise surprise. Aud got a plane ticket to visit me in October for the AAD event. So if your thinking of going, Audra will be there for you to see for yourself.

We are almost finished with two books, one for a revise for Loose id, which we are hoping they like the extended version so to speak, an one we are getting ready for pitching at RT. I love this book, love the characters and the premise, and Im hoping it will do well once it gets out there. And of course, we have to work on Book three of the snakes. Its already started, have about 2k written (which isnt much but it is a start, espcially when we are working on several othe books as well) and im hoping to have masquerade ready to go for a May or June release.

London for the Holidays has a Jan 5th release date, which Im very excited about. Since its out only vampire book to date (and probably ever) im hoping we get some new readers that just read the bloodsuckers LOL. though I will say that the story is good, and different, and when it goes into print, it will have a special short story called No Good Deed Goes Unpunished, and its about Marsh, and Janey after the end of Gifts. It happens on New Years, when The Devil comes to visit for a small conversation and bargain. Sorry, no sex in this one, Janey is pregnant and all, but it explains a lot that people were asking about.

So Im off to watch cartoons and enjoy my saturday. Hope you all had a good holiday!

Acomplishments... and a look ahead.

Im happy to say that while writing was lean this year, I think we have some things to be proud of this year in our career.

~Sold the snake novella's to Total E Bound
~Finished three books, Novels, to be pitched next year at RT
~developed two new series for future WIP's
~conceived and help set up the Authors After Dark Paranormal Weekend.
~I personally won an Ariana and a Dirk A. Wolf for cover art i did
~I personally was up for a Fangoria horror award for the cover of the book Snuff
~Now have 8 books in print
~were nominated for several awards

Not too bad considering we barely wrote this year. I'm hopeful for next year. What i would like to accomplish:
~We snag an agent/ editor
~We sell our weresnake novel to a NY house
~we finish Masquerade, Leather and Moonshine, A Bitter Kiss of Chaos and What Binds the Darkness
~We do much better at the signings we set up (And this year wasn't too shabby at all)

we dont want much but Im a big fan of setting goals that are attainable. So what have you done this year.. and what do you hope to accomplish?

Letter to the ARe Santa, #3

Dear Santa,

I have been a very good girl this year. What do I want for the holidays? An iPhone/iTouch so that I can use Stanza to read all the romance I need from all the publishers I love that I buy at All Romance eBooks. You see, Santa, I deserve the iPhone/iTouch because...

I I really need to join the 21st century. My cell phone is horrible, and I drop calls, and the phone calls places like South America... and last week it was HONG KONG. I know no one there. See, I should be doing something like this for my mum, or my boyfriend, or grandpa... but really I want it for me. I never ask for anything expensive like this, because money every year is tight and I cant justify spending the kinda money they cost when the cost of living is so high. Im usually a sock and pajama kinda girl. When you have the choice of paying a bill or buying something that you would like to have, the need outweights the want, especially if you dont wanna freeze or read by candlelight. It would be cool to have something current, especially when I normally get something a year after, if not later.

I would like to be more green, and this is a great way to be green, and help to get the E book word out there... When Im at the bookstore and see someone and we talk e books, it would be great to be able to show them (and show off ARE, lol) and get more people into e books, helping to keep the world green.

Thanks Santa, Please pick me!
XOXO

We Sold!

So we have sold three books to Total E bound! The Knossos West Weresnakes novella series is going to be back in the published mainstream come next year, and whats more, it will have a third story featuring the nest country club kid, Andy Derelle.

So Audra and I are super excited about this, TEB is fantastic, our editor is the COOLEST, and we have a great opportunity with TEB. I cant wait to become part of their family! I'm looking forward to getting the covers, and seeing the books out again. So those of you who are looking for the Snakes, soon guys... soon!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and Im baking up a storm while Audra and I are outlining the third snake book. Its going to be awesome I think, and you will get to see a different side of snake life... a more regimented and austere kinda society. Book three doesnt take place at Knossos West, but in the wilds of the Mojave Desert... Are you intrigued yet? LOL I thought you would be!

Back to it all. Have a great thanksgiving everyone, And enjoy the food and family! Oh and dont get too drunk!

I really want one. I don't make anywhere near the kinda bank it takes to buy one, and Should probably enter the technological mainstream. Hell I'm still using a craptastic phone that unlocks on its own, calls places like Argentina and Japan without my knowledge, and runs up my bills. Honestly who do i know in South America? NO ONE. Also, As I have recently started reading E books, It would help in that as well. I only buy my e books off ARe and now that ARe is on Stanza... it would make it one hell of a merry christmas this year.

XOXO

Marsh has taken over.

Well the new book is on hold right now. Marsh showed back up and is demanding that the short we are adding for the print book of London for the Holidays (out this December in E book) needs to be finished so he can go on "vacation". I didn't think fictional characters went on vacation (Well mine don't, they all kinda hangout while I'm not writing them drinking up all my tea and eating all the good snacks) so this is news to me. Hopefully Audra and I will get this done and done by wed as Syrus is seriously pissed off and wants to get to his rooftop nookie.

We are still waiting on the snake submission for the novella's. Im so keyed up about it I'm almost to the point of paranoia. With everything going on so crappy this year, I feel like we need a win somewhere. I was hoping this was going to be it, and we would have the Novella's back on our release list with a damn good publisher to annouce this year, but it doesnt look like thats going to happen at this point.

2008 has been a wasted year for writing for us. With the wedding, and now Audra geting back in the swing so slowly... Im frustrated and trying to figure out ways to get shit back on track. Its not that easy. I still have hopes though, that the remainder of the year will turn around.

Dont forget, we are taking part in the Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt with some of the best names in E book! (Why we are involved is anyones guess) and you can check it out HERE. Lots of great prizes, enter and win!

Im back to working on Marsh before Audra gets on. Hopefully I'll bang out another 500 words.

Jewelry, Squirrles and Submissions...

Lots going on this week. Mostly to keep my mind off the submissions we still have pending. Im a wreck because of it, so I have been trying to channel my energies into other pursuits. Jewelry has become one of them, and so has writing, obviously. I finished a solo short, and its going into the editor this weekend, after i give it the once over, and Audra and I are slowly adding to the new book but at least its getting done.
Im hopeful we will get this finished to send to our beta for Christmas holidays, as I want this ready to go for RT so I can pitch. I dont think its a hard thing to do. Im scared, because I have never pitched before, but I think it will be good for me, though im going to have to work on said pitch with our Beta. Thank god shes more grounded then me, shes already helped me greatly on that end.
In personal news, Audra's sugar gliders are pregnant. Shes eager to see the babies, but is freaked out by all the singing the female does to the pouch, and all the barking the male (batfink) does when people go near the cage. Squirrles are not suppoed to bark. Period. So this holiday should be an interesting one for her to say the least.
Me? Well nothing good to report, nothing bad either. Im hoping we will have contract news soon but I'm honestly not holding my breath. But, with the jewelry, I have started a Etsy store, and Im so excited. Im designing steampunk jewelry, and accessories, and Im working into a few other things. Looking forward to opening on the 15th. If you are reading this, and stop by Stella by Starlight, and find something you JUST have to have, convo me on etsy, and I will cut out the shipping, and you will have it in your grubby mitts before christmas. Everything comes giftboxed and with a special Stella by Starlight tag.
Well thats me. Im off to get some writing done before the supplies for the rest of the jewelry come. Audra and I are averaging between 2-8k a day. Im saying it a good thing.

Work is never done

Yep. It seems it keeps piling up. But I keep putting stuff off to write. I feel thats the true face of an author, the fact that everything else can sit and scratch when the muse is upon you. I have missed our muse for a while now, but we are so involved in this new series, and these new books that everything is falling into place.

Though we are still waiting on submissions, and I admit I truly hate waiting. Im anxious to get these books placed you know? Though i know things are hard all over, so I shall try to be patient, and hope for the best.

I'm working on some new jewelry and Happy about how its turning out. If you wanna see, check out my store Stella By Starlight on etsy.com. Ooh and if you mention this blog post you'll get free shipping. Just convo me before you buy the piece so I can relist the piece. All pieces come gift boxed, with a holigram box, ribbon and a Stella by Starlight tag. And maybe some cool goodies as well.. Heh

So Im very excited about our new president as well. Audra and I had been chatting about me moving to Scotland if McCain won... So I guess it all worked out, LOL.

Back to writing. We are kicking major ass with this one. Im looking forward to finishing it though, because we have 5 more books in the same world brewing and percolating. LOL.

Art of the cover info

Art of the Cover is a new cover artist resource for both Artists and publishers to find new artists to work with, as well as artists help each other with publisher issues, payments, non payments, and information on relationships with publishers.

Also, the forums section they are going to be offering classes and contests so that you can grow as an artists and make your portfolio grow as well.

I'm going to be running a class in January I think, that's if they accept it. Apparently there is a group of professionals that decided by a criteria if you are a registered professional, but i think we should all get an account there and work with them to make our jobs easier.

updates and all that jazz.

Audra and I are about 61k into the new book and its full steam ahead. I do really love this book, and the characters are becoming more real to me every day. I think its good to have a world outside the Eververse, so that we can escape when the monotony starts to set in.

I'm ill again, no surprise given the time of year, but I'm doing much better. We have a signing next Saturday, last of the year, in Middletown NY. I'm hopeful we get a much better turnout this time. I still need to send out the Info on myspace and such. *shrug*

And I have stared doing steampunk jewelry. Im opening a Etsy shop soon, once i get enough stuff to add to the shop that is. Still deciding on a name for it though. Any insights will be welcome.

Audra and I are still waiting on submissions... and as usual, we are antsy panty about it. We recently got a rejection that made NO SENSE considering they told us the book WASNT romance, then told us that the book would be much better suited for Category rather then single title. Yeah, oh and we were 1.2k shy of their work cap. Yeah, I know. We are baffled as well. *Sigh* I think I would have appreciated it more if they just said "Snakes scare me and Im comfortable publishing anything having to do with them." *sigh*

So im back to writing. See you guys soon

A breakthrough

Yes! We hit the 50k mark for this new book last night and today we have been outlining the next part of the book. I'm excited. We still need to go back in and do the bad guy parts, but all in all it wont take that much bulking in the details and descriptions area. That makes me a happy bunny.

So i thought I would drop in for a few and give you guys an update. Still waiting on the submission for the snake novella's and the novel.. but I'm hopeful. The stories are good and you awesome readers keep asking for them... So here's hoping that they get placed soon.

So its back to work for me. I have to get through another 500 words before Audra and I keep going on things together. I'm so excited about this book...

Fucked weekend

Needless to say I'm still here at AlbaCON. Not a happy weekend to say the least. Some of the people I have met, were awesome. LOVED them. A lot of the people I met, SUCKED hardcore. Like the asshole that moved us into an unused hallway for the signing time? Yeah, bastards, and they weren't very nice about it either.

So this con is off my list for next year. I wont be coming back and being treated like shit. But the panels were ok, Amusing people on them to say the least. Oh and I was molested by a dragon puppet. Yeah. I know.

On the upswing, I got an octopus stuffed animal, and named him Archibald Witwicki. Yep. I know.

So Im off to walk about Albany, and maybe get some pictures and such. Heres hoping anyway. We have one panel left, at 2pm, and then Im going HOME. Its been a fucked weekend. But... It was an experience.

The right kinda working...

We have been blowing through this book and learning so much about the characters that its scary. Audra and I haven't been this excited about writing a book in ages, and I'm seriously excited that its going so well.

We should probably hit between 45-50k by the end of the week. I'm saying that pretty damn good for a week's worth of intensive soul searching in a new book. Now we have to decide names and Im slowly outlining the next three books in the 6 book series. The guys are... well they are stunning really.

And tomorrow I'm getting ready to leave for the convention, I don't know how insane its going to be to leave the Inferi world but I have to for the good of our career LOL. So its back to work today. Wish us luck.

I love working on books

yes, Audra and I have been pretty prolific these past few days. We are eagerly working on a book that's blossoming so well, but we will have to go back through and ass a lot of discription and emotion. I'm really excited its going to well though.

This past weekend was Collingswood, the book festival. We did pretty darn good, and had a damn good time. Sold some books, met some awesome people, and gave away a bunch of books to a few libraries. It was a damn fine thing to say the least.

So this week is a lot more writing. Audra and I are hoping to cap another 20k by friday. If we do, we will be in pretty good shape for a first draft of this book. By November 1st im looking to have this first draft done and we are rolling into bulking it up, and edits. Not a hard thing considering how hard we are hitting this one.

This weekend Im going to be in Albany for the AlbaCON convention. Im going to be on several panels including Sex in Fantasy, Urban Fantasy 101 and my personal favorite, BRittish SFF shows and why america is in love with them. WOOO. So excited. Im also on a New Author Mentoring panel, and I have a signing on Saturday at noon. It should be a lot of fun, but damn if i dont need to actually go shopping for clothes that dont scream "punk rock." No im not changing my appearance, Im just toning it down a notch, gotta be professional you know. LOL.

After this weekend we have one more signing, Nov. 1st, and then I am done till January. Though to be honest Come Nov. 5th Ill be back to setting up the signings for the next year all over again. Damn vicious cycle.

On the upswing, Im doing new hobbies. Im making steampunk jewelry. Joe's dad is a big watch colector , and hes got tons of old broken moving parts and cogs and the like. I figured it should be pretty good to have a ready supply of parts so why not use them. So be on the lookout for my new jewelry... Im still thinking of if i should create a company around it.

So thats it from our end. Im off to write some more, and get some mail ready to go to the post office. its going to be a wild week ahead. Oh and October 10th... Ill be blogging at AAD and giving away some goodies... stop by.

WOOOO!

We finished London for the Holidays. It was a long hard road but its done and we couldn't be happier with it. So its off to the editor and hopefully you guys will see it in early december.

Now for some ok news. Audra and I have decide to put the Eververse on hold for a few months. We need to step back from the characters and let them relax a bit, so we can find the love of them again. That said, we arent stopping writing, but we are working on another series in another universe. its set here and now, and is a new urban fantasy. Im hoping to have the first book finished by christmas, so that we can sub out for agents in late january.

We will be getting back to the Eververse after the first in this series is written, so YES, you will have Masquerade by RT and Leather and Moonshine by fall. The dragons, Well Spiria's book might have to wait another year... Botany is damn hard to research.

We have other work we have to work on and will between slow parts of this new book, but im seriously excited about this and Im praying that we do this one justice. its a big idea, and a lot to talk on, starting a full new world that has nothing to do with the Eververse, but I think we are up to the task. Wish us luck.

4 STAR Review

THE SOFT EDGE OF MIDNIGHT
by Stella and Audra Price

RT Rating:
Category: EROTICA
Publisher: SIREN
Published: March 2008
Type: Erotic Romance (Paranormal)

Once again the Price sisters come up with a darkly original tale set in their Eververse world. With an assortment of shapeshifters, witches, demons and the fallen, it's a feast of supernatural characters. The romantic leads are an interesting pair of unicorn-shifters, but the demons take center stage with more personality, more plotlines and more sex.
Summary: When Illori escapes her demon captor she thinks she's the last unicorn-shifter left. She's resigned to being alone until she meets Karsten, a male unicorn who wants her for his mate. But before the couple can consummate their relationship, Lucifer sends his hunter Sammael to bring Illori back. Nybras wants Sammael's job, and after capturing Illori he thinks it's in the bag. But when Sammael joins forces with Karsten, all bets are off. (SIREN, Mar., 276 pp., $12.99)

Such a great review, and it means our reviewer has read us before, so thank you SO much! Couldnt have come at a better time!

I miss talking to Audra.

But today we were on the phone for three hours talking about books and reconnecting with some of our work. I was rather excited, and have a new look at some of the work we have been putting off. Its been good. So we did decide things, and how things are going, and Where to go with some new stuff.

For the Eververse series, After Masquerade is out in January, we are going to do Drakes book, then switch stuff up, and do Feyd's book. We think he deserves it, and we are both looking forward to getting into that. And we, as well as fans, get to see a lot more of Trent (from the Duvall Inc. Series)... Im SO looking forward to that. Trent is a complete enigma to me, and to my sister as well, so this will be fun.

What? You dont know what Trent has to do with Feyd? heh. Trent happens to be Ashlyn's father, a father who she never met, and one that doesnt even know she exists. Feyd, raised right by his loving mum Lorna has to get a hold of Trent to ask for Ash's hand in marriage, especially because shes pregnant and it is TRENT... the one person He, Fallon and Arcady are actually scared of. They dont call him Afterburn for nothing after all. So when Trent shows up at Crypt to get to the bottom of all this hoopla of a daughter hes never met marrying a collegue, he meets Feyd's Mother... and things get even more interesting...

Heh... I know, its going to be such a fun book! And I cant wait to get it going.

And we are going to get back to work on the new book series we have been developing, and we needed that too. Im hoping we can get the first one finished by mid spring next year, and to shop it out and see where it takes us. Im hopeful.

We are still waiting on some submissions, and have to revise a book to resend to Loose ID for next year. Im hopeful that it will work for them, and that we will get the other submissions back with good news. Heres Hoping lots more...

Signing.

Yep, even though Hannah is threatening from the south, I have a signing in Hudson NY tonight with a bunch of the girls. Im looking forward to it, especially cuz its at the spotty dog. Love that venue.
But its dark as the end of the world outside. I know we will make it, and I hope we have some readers show up as well. It will be good to get out. Next week is Middeltown, and well have some fans coming up. I cant wait for that one as well. Insanity is abound.
So its pokemon time, then a shower, hair done and makeup, and then getting ready to go to the signing. Wish us luck. And maybe we will see you there.

signing heaven.

Yesterdays signing was freakin cool. We had a new fan stop by to meet us! Apparently she picked the books up off their shelf at the store, and LOVED them, so she wanted to meet me and Aud. Sadly Aud wasnt there but she did get the blow by blow. It was soo damn cool to meet Mandie, and to hear that she really liked our work.
I mean, I know we have fans, and love every one of them, but she picked us up off a shelf, and knowing that, I know we are doing the right thing with the print. Its going slowly but we are doing it and I dont feel like its not making a difference. Its hard sometimes, but its also really rewarding when stuff like this happens.
So Im off to write, but I figured i would give a shout to our girls Frog and Marci for coming to hangout once again. I love them SOOOOO much!

Thursday, August 28, 2008

I swear im the worst blogger ever.

Well I know I have some interesting things to say but honestly i don't have the energy to get all wild about the indignities and injustices that have been coming to light recently. I will one of these days, but not today. I just dont have the time or the inclination.

Why? Because I start our fall signing tour this weekend. Farmington CT is the first stop, then every weekend till the middle of October i have something. Im excited to be getting back out there and seeing readers and meeting new ones, I have hope this will be the best tour we have so far.

So its all packing and making sure i have everything I need. I still need to finish cutting out promo to bring but luckly i have tonite to do that. It never ends, the planning and the packing. Im just hoping that the amount of stuff im doing does pay off.

And this time through, I have two cons! ConTEXT in Ohio in September, and AlbaCON in Albany in October where Ill be on a bunch of panels! Wooo I cant wait! FINALLY! and this is going to do well for my Con resume, so that I can get on other panels as I go. I really cant wait for that. oh and Bianca and I are throwing a party there as well. HEH.

So wish me luck for this tour, I plan on having a freaking rad time.

I should blog more often

But really I'm a hellishly boring person. Nothing noteworthy has been going on with us. Still toiling away at writing, and I'm still designing and getting promo stuff cut out and ordered. I have a lot of signings coming up so i need to swag.

I do have one thing I'm super excited to talk bout, but I cant yet. and no, its not a contract or an agent. But its still wicked awesome and once I can talk about it, I know you are all going to be into it. Soon, I promise.

I do have some cool ideas that are panning out by way of promotional items. Im looking forward to getting it out there to see what the fans and the readers think.

Ooh. I do have something cool going on. this Thursday on my radio show i have SciFi Day! Its with Linnea Sinclair and Bianca D'Arc, so it should be a lot of fun. Check out the info HERE

Ok so I guess Im going to pop out and do some writing. I need to get something done this weekend. *sigh*

Signings, traveling and back to work

NC was freaking awesome. I had a great time, so did joe and I sold 10 books at the signing. All in all thats a damn good day. Our vacation was fun as well, though I don't like driving all day to get home. I need to move south. Too many of my good freinds live south.

Ooh and it was so fantastic to see the Jens at the signing as well. I'm SOOO glad they came cuz they both rocked! I'm looking forward to seeing them both again.

So Audra is home finally. so we are going to start writing again this week. I figure we can get the books finished and knock a lot out of our WIP list. Im off to start writing right now as a matter of fact. Be sure to check out my post at AAD this month, Im giving away some free print books and other good stuff..

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

No Audra... and apparently no words...

Audra is still on her honeymoon! She will be for another week, and I have been sitting here tearing my hair out. I feel stagnant, and unmotivated, because shes not here. My stress? Through the roof because we have a LOT to get finished. So I'm trying to write little by little on my own but its a losing battle.
So what did I do? I created a new pen name for myself, to write shorts and novella's on my own. Seemed like a good idea at the time, and I did start writing. My problem? I'm stuck again. Why? because my brain is set to "pair writing" and I don't think I can write something good without her. Its insecurity I know, but the idea has come to me easily, but I cant write it. Its sitting here, scenes and chapters waking up in my head, but I keep thinking "Damn Aud is going to LOVE this idea!" and she has no idea about it and wont because its my work alone.
I don't think I can get my head around working alone really, because I haven't really done it in ages. So I toil on, push some words out. But I'm nowhere near as prolific as I should be and am when I'm writing with Audra.
So I have decided to just let it sit for half the day today, watch the last episode of Dr. Who for season 4 and cry it out, like i did for the 12th episode. *sigh* Watch the back episodes of Battlestar I missed while in Scotland, and maybe order some promo. Maybe that will get my brain working, and if not it might turn it to mush. Either way, I'm eager to have Audra home to get some work done.

Thursday, July 03, 2008
